Zerg Themed Summoner...

Advice

Hey I have a GM who is giving me a little leeway. We are starting level 3 and I want to build a zerg themed summoner but I can't make up my mind, initial concept was brood master summoner, spawn zerglings (obviously not to game specs.) Or build a whole new "zerg unit" with the regular summoner class. I am avoiding synthesist, and the concept is supposed to be based on the eidolon. Any suggestions? I will note that coming up with new evolutions is possible but must be kept reasonable. For instance another summoner in the group was allowed to give his eidolon a ranged attack to emulate a hydralisk. Any ideas would be helpful.

brood master would be slick, with a bunch of mini eidolons running around. Or maybe spam the heck out of Summon Monsters with the Master Summoner, flavoring the minions as Zerglings. A re-skinned dog/monkey/quadruped would be a good idea for that. Skin your eidolon as an Overlord to drop your summons from and voila! Always have your Eidolon be the target for where your summons come from.

I would reflavor normal summons as lesser Zerg, and is make the eidolon into an ultralisk.

Because ultralisks are awesome.

Quadruped, pounce, pincers, bite, trample, tons of natural armor. BOOM. Kerrigan would be proud.

Brood master would work well for zerglings. Just divide your Hit Dice as small as possible, 1 or 2 evolution points each for extra claw attacks and DR penetration.

For most others, a basic summoner would work fine. For example, with an Ultralisk, just buy your Eidolon as big as possible, get all the NA and DR you can, as well as a couple of beefy claw and bite attacks.

Just don't do brood master. You can get the same flavor normally without being super weak and taking long turns in combat.

Master summoner with reflavored summons is probably the most effective way to go long term. Brood master works for a few zerglings, but not in enough numbers to really have the Zerg feel. Also, you'll have a great deal of difficulty "upgrading" to stronger units as a brood master. With master summoner, you just summon something else.

Great idea by the way. This has me wondering how to build a Protoss themed character.

Mmmmmmm... Zerg master summoner, human marine gunslinger, and a Protoss dark Templar ninja. It would need investment in UMD for the summoner and ninja, but it would be balanced well enough. A full divine caster would be better, but medics are about it for Starcraft and a noncombatant buffer/healer would be boring to play. It would work as an NPC though. Evangelist cleric for the best effect...

Too bad there's no dual sycthe like weapon for a dark Templar :(

The original Dark Templar used what were basically katars, which were much cooler in my opinion. The entire unit redesign for SC2 was kinda lame, I thought.

Anyway, Master Summoner with a Neutral or Evil alignment will let you summon monsters with the Fiendish template. Since all of the Zerg units are terrible, fiendish perversions of their original, unassimilated forms it would fit perfectly. Fiendish dog/wolf? Zergling. Fiendish fire beetle? Broodling. Fiendish triceratops? Ultralisk. Hydralisk is a tough one, since not much of the summon monster list has natural ranged attacks, and those that do don't get templates applied, but you've got all sorts of possible Zerg by just adding the Fiendish template to the stuff that you can.
