Greetings, all. These boards are exemplary.. I have seen so much good advice, so many constructive replies. And I have laughed so hard. :) Thank you all for so much that you contribute.
For my ROTRL campaign I'd like to give the PC's a gladiator type encounter. I suppose I could make something up just in Magnimar.. what I have in mind is something along the lines of the fights you can do in Ust Natha in Baldur's Gate II. I'm thinking my PCs would really enjoy being showcased in individual fights against suitable foes. Any advice on how to do it, or where?
The PCs are a half orc fighter and a half elf rogue/ranger, and then there's a GMPC life oracle and GMPC universalist wizard. They are all level 11, and they have just gained the Storval Stairs.

You might want to check out Serpent's Run in Magnimar--it's described in the Magnimar sourcebook in more detail or on the Pathfinder Wiki.

After they return to Sandpoint, they could receive invitations to participate in a great tournament to honor Gorum at Serpents Run. There you could pit them against all kinds of foes. If you wanted to add some story, you could have the brothers of Seven be using it as a way to eliminate the Players who killed one of their leaders. Maybe even have Ironbriar or Xensha in the fight as disguised undead (assuming your party killed them)
I had my groups barbarian make contact with a fight promoter there and go out for a trial fight. It wasn't in the arena, but at the training area next to it (I just made that part up). I had him go unarmed against an Auroch. He did some acrobatics rolls to attempt to leap over it, and actually failed the roll (which is insane considering his bonuses). He ended up punching the Auroch into unconsciousness. I think he was pretty proud of that moment lol.
My point is, you could play this up, and perhaps drag it out a bit. Have him meet a fight promoter. Do some trial matches against bulls or other gladiators with wooden weapons. Perhaps have a rival fight promoter with Scarzni connections try to strong arm him into fighting for them. Have a noble house sponsor him, then try to use him to do something shady. The possibilities are endless! Have fun with it sir / ma'am.
Just thought, that you might want to dig up some flavor about Tymon, too. It's one of the River Kingdoms and involvees gladiator, arena and such stuff, too.
Maybe you can import some of the stuff into your game.
