Anytime is good...but Vikings! Vikings! Vikings!

I'd have to see the NotC system first. If I like it, we can try it out.

In terms of alignment, I don't care what a character says what their alignment is, but I am a firm believer in natural consequences.

I vote feudal japan, or 10th century Europe, or the vikings.

Ok, perhaps this method will be better. Everyone rank their top five choices, from either the ideas presented already or your own. From there, I'll choose one based on lowest aggregate ranks and whether I think I can pull it off. Feel free to defend and debate your reasonings.

Voting will go on until next Wednesday. I'll choose something and open up another thread for official recruitment then.

RANKINGS

1. Feudal Era Japan- Come on, it's JAPAN, PEOPLE! As a self-respecting nerd, I must rank this #1! ^_^

2. Middle Ages Arabia- Who as a child did not like the Aladdin movies/shows and who hasn't been fascinated by 1,001 Arabian Nights? More to the point, who played the Legacy of Fire AP and didn't like it? Exactly!

3. Egypt, particularly Middle Kingdom Era- Egypt's so cool there's a whole field called Egyptology! Admittedly, it would be preferable to play one of the upper castes, because commoners and slaves has a life expectancy of around 22! O_O

4. Age of Exploration Era Carribbean- Pirates! Rum, rowdy tavern music, blood soaked seas, golden booty (Possibly of both kinds!), and ridiculous mascot animals! ^_^

5. Europe- Any era, so long as I can be a noble, but scheming Cavalier! ^_^

RANKINGS!

1. Feudal Japan, As an avid history nerd and manga lover. I must say This is definitely my preferred setting. BUSHIDO!

2. 10th century medieval Europe. I love this time period, It is one of the ones I study/studying the most.

3. Vikings era, Who doesn't love the tell of Beowulf? Also, MEAD!!

4. here again, I also enjoy the carribean era pirates, both the actual pirates of the time, and the hollywood ones ;) capt. jack sparrow and all.

5. Chinese Dynasty, the kingdom of heaven era (where there was 3 separate "ruling houses" and you had to have the support of at least 2 to actually do anything :P )

The Exchange

1. Egypt - though I'd vote Old Kingdom over Middle Kingdom. We can debate this as necessary.
2. Arabia - this one sounds pretty fun! Good idea RVT.
3. Age of Exploration Era - Caribbean is fun, but let's not forget the silk and spice trade, reaching from Europe, through Africa, all the way to Asia. Doglocks and sailing ships!
4. I still think a Viking incursion on the unrecorded history of North America has potential.
5. Speaking of the Americas, how about a little bit of Spanish conquistador action?

All of these ideas are great so far. I can see running any of them.

Any game we run in these eras, I plan on tying in local myths and legends into the story, so just in terms of ease/fun of doing that, there doesn't seem to be a bad setting here. Leaning toward Arabia, Vikings, or Feudal Japan though. I also have a weak spot for pirates and the Age of Exploration. Though if we do that, I would have you be explorers of south america over pirates. In other words, I am still undecided.

Also, bump.

Scarab Sages

This sounds like a fun one.

1. Sengoku Japan, possibly during one of the sword hunts, when only the upper classes or samurai class could legally bear arms.

2. Chinese, during the time of the 3 kingdoms of Wu, Wei, and Shu.

3. Vikings

4. Medeival Europe

5. Pirates - not sure which is better.

I'm going to give people more chances to votes. Bump.

Any word?

I think I am going to have to wait until the end of the semester to start. So another 3 weeks or so. Voting is still open though, to anyone who sees this.

I will jeep it bumped ;)
