Does anyone have any information about the heights of the various cliffs in Sandpoint - both inside town (uptown down to Undercliff Way, and Old Light area down to the House of Blue Stones) and outside (down to the beaches, river, and from the nobles' mansions), not to mention Chopper's Isle?
I have some very topographically interested players who want to know about the towns contours - particularly in light of their recent discoveries ... :)
For that matter, what's the height of the city wall to the north, and what kind of security precautions are there for the two wooden bridges?
I told my players that there were a few guards at each of the bridges, and that they had some mechanism in place to drop the bridges into the river if they were suddenly being invaded by an overwhelming force. However, the guards are reluctant to "drop the bridges" because it's expensive and time-consuming to re-build them afterwards.

The cliff that the Old Light is standing on is 120' above sea level. The docks are at or very close to sea level, as are the beaches. (Duh!) The "uptown" area is relatively flat, and the rest of town slopes down to the water level. That's all that I have been able to find.
There are no other altitude references in the book, but I use the images above as well since they're already done. The town is not designed for defense - I think even dropping the bridges is unlikely.
In my Sandpoint model, I'm reducing the scale a bit and also making the walls less castle-like. It gives a bit more of a crowded medieval feel. Haven't worked on the countours yet since we're still concentrating on the main gate area.

Most of the cliffs surrounding the town are about 100 to 150 feet high, more or less.
Point Arena reference for cliffs around Sandpoint.
The 3D map (awesome by the way) looks pretty good in other words.
The town itself slopes downward from north to south. At the north end, where the Cathedral's at, is about 120 feet above sea level.
Also, kind of like downtown Point Arena...

I know this is an old discussion, I was just tickled to run across a link to the Sandpoint 3D images I made a while back. I planned on taking it much further but sadly that is about as far as I got.
Happy to see people are getting some use from them though.
