I'd like an AP that revolves around the trials and tribulations of working for a package delivery service for an old coot technomancer who keeps trying to get you killed by sending you to dangerous locales for no good reason.

Insurance policies on the PCs that they are not (initially) aware of?

There's a good twist for the end of book 1.

Mashallah wrote:
I'd like to see something involving Earth, as, as far as I understand, Earthlings also received Drift drives, letting them invade reach Absalom station within 1d6 days.

EARTH as far as I understood it was an alternate reality, not a separate planet in a different part of the Universe. That makes more sense to me since it would account for Humans evolving on Earth/Golarion in the same way because it is the same planet, just an alternate reality/timeline. I might be mistaken but the idea of HUMANS evolving in exactly the same way on two different planets at different ends of the Universe sounds ridiculous to me.

My favorite adventure idea that I think could work as an Adventure, Star Trek. Premise, the Pact Worlds has combined all of their knowledge to create the most powerful awesome ship imaginable (the actual stats would be up to the GM). The PCs start out as regular crew members, being hired to do what ever they are best skilled at (back up pilots for service shuttles, security, medical, engineering, etc). The Point of the ship is two fold, to project the power and reputation of The Pact Worlds, and to try and recruit more worlds into the Pact Worlds to fight against The Swarm. The PCs can go on away missions to alien worlds, interact with new aliens when the ship approaches a new alien plant, and move up in ranks as they show their competence and senior officers are killed off, incapacitated, etc.

If there is not a Star Ship Troopers type of adventure I will be both severally disappointing and very surprised. Why else included The Swarm? The Swarm is literally Paizo's imitation of the Bugs from Star Ship Troopers/Warhammer 40k Tyranids/Starcraft Hive/Star Trek Borg.

With Besmara being a major god now (YAY!) and the Free Captains still existing, a new take on Skulls and Shackles is very likely. Considering that is one of my Favorite adventures I am looking forward to it.

An adventure path involving The Great Old Ones. You stumble upon a cult, do the normal fight the cult thing, but the main thing would be the ending. The PCs know that they can not actually stop the arrival of the Old One, only prepare and slow it down. So they prepare, they prepare by doing favors and gathering allies, all to make the most powerful bad ass warship possible. The final Battle is the Star Ship battling a Giant Space Monster, weakening it and blowing a hole into it, the PCs then go inside the giant space monster and kill it by attacking its internal organs. All while fighting off the immune system of the Great Old One!

Title, "The Return of Cayden Cailean". The PCs start out as slaves and are rescued by a mysterious drunk man who has obviously seen better days. The Old Drunk gives the PCs some knowledge that was lost during the GAP, knowledge of a lost god, the God of Freedom, Cayden Cailean. The old man requests that the PCs help him to spread the word of Cayden Cailean by freeing slaves and standing up for what is right. Through out the adventure as the the PCs free slaves and stand up against the corruption of all of the mega companies in system, they notice that the old man seems to be getting younger and healthier. During the adventure the old man tells the PCs that he IS CAYDEN CAILEAN and the PCs get to be the heads of his new church, dedicated to spreading freedom and justice in a system that is over run by corporations that are enslaving the population.

I never played any of the APs to conclusion.
My ideas:

  • An AP based on exploration and expansion into the Vast.
  • An AP that deals with the Azlanti Empire/Dominion.
  • An AP based on Starship Troopers.
  • The PCs go to a planet somewhere out in the universe and awaken an elder god.
  • I'm running out of ideas tonight.

Given that Earthlings were one of the most technologically advanced factions in Pathfinder due to being forced to develop technology in absence of their own magic and didn't seem to show any signs of slowing down, I doubt "insufficiently advanced" would be a valid explanation.

I personally hope to see some really rad tech from Earthlings in
    Starfinder.

I was more saying why the idea of every race getting Drift drives doesn't make much sense to me.

As for Earth, there's the problem that Earth is in a different galaxy entirely, and it turns out you can't use Drift drives for intergalactic travel. I had originally forgot that bit of lore when I said the bit about infinite evil armies, so that point is moot.

Also, the Gap is "galaxy wide", not "universe wide". So knowing what year it is on Earth would allow us to know just how far into PFs future we are.

    Quote:
Travel beyond the Rim: While other galaxies are known to exist, the distances between them and the galaxy of the Pact Worlds are so incredibly large that there have yet to be any confirmed instances of intergalactic travel using Drift technology. Whether this is due to the extreme travel times involved, limits to the reach of the Drift itself, or dangers encountered in the Drift during such attempts remains unknown.

reign of winter sent the group to World war one era Russia to deal with Rasputin (Rasputin must die). so i would imagine that it would be a minimum of 2,216 if that adventure happened just prior to the gap happening. so i would imagine that earth would be somewhere around the time of whats happening in the expanse series technology wise.

I don't recall that Earth is in a different galaxy than Golarion.

It is stated that 4713 A.R. (year of RMD's publication) is 1918 A.D./C.E. on Earth's calendar, as I recall.

Since the Gap lasts ~300 years, and that at a bare minimum the Gap doesn't hit Golarion until any earlier than 4720, in OTL it's at least 2225 C.E. when the Gap ends, 2542 when Starfinder is in-play.

I would guesstimate that Golarion's calendar went much further along than that. If the Rennaissance era tech of Golarion is used as a roughly baseline (1600's in our terms), we can probably ballpark the Gap started in pre-Gap Golarion during the year of 5000 A.R. for ease of reference and Great Big Significance to Numerologists.

Going with the Gap "firing" during 5000 A.R., that it lasts exactly 300 years for Golarion and that we are playing in the year 317 A.G., 904 years have passed since Rasputin Must Die!'s Earth year of 1918. For Earthlings, Starfinder starts in 2822 C.E./A.D., and could easily be much, much later.

    Good news, everyone!

First and foremost I wish for an entire AP where the villainous organization you have to deal with is the Dominion of the Black and ONLY the Dominion of the Black. I imagine they have enough range in the kinds of critters at their disposal you could go from 1st to 20th and beyond and still not kill them all.

Beyond that I would delve into old movies and cartoons like:

    Flash Gordon
    Buck Rogers
Commander Cody (Radar Men from the Moon, etc.)
    Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
    Captain Future
    Captain Harlock
Battle of the Planets (Super Scientific Ninja Team Gatchaman)
    Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato)
    Outlaw Star
    Red Dwarf

AP Concept - The Batrachian Strain
The characters are tasked with tracing the lineage of the Froghemoth - a creature long thought to have strange origins from beyond the solar system of Golarion. Their journey starts on Castrovel trying to access ancient Elven texts on the strange beast, and takes them on a trip out into the Vast, to long lost Androffan and beyond, until they must confront a Starspawn of Shub-niggurath to prevent a new plague from sweeping through the Pact Systems

Lensman, going on memory, is the highest-tier space opera I can recall. Intergalactic wars featuring weapons systems that inspired, at least in part, both USN bridge redesigns during the 1940s and Lucas' Death Star. Good stuff.

One can hope that Starfinder gets close to this ...

The animated film was a fun one, but my recollection of it is quite dim at this point.

Lensman "may" have influenced DC Comics Green Lantern Corps (not the original 1940s charactor of the Golden Age. But the Silver Age stuff).

Yeah it is. There's no doubt.

It shouldn't have, based on a Starfinder reference that the AR calendar lasted "almost 5,000 years" and a big intent of the Gap is not to answer questions about what officially happened during the Pathfinder era there shouldn't be any historical pre-Gap records where anyone knew about Androffa, just that there was a ship crash in a place once known as Numeria.

I want to follow up on this idea.

IMO Strange Aeons makes a good-to-excellent vehicle to convert even veteran/umpteenth level Pathfinder characters into Starfinder. You get mind-swapped via Yithians or whatever else, then you 'wake up' in deep kimchi in a cell somewhere bizarre without a clue as to who or what you are, picking up the campaign from there. Once you make your way out your converted characters have to pick up the pieces and adapt to their new universe.

Instead of months aboard a sailing ship they spend months in the Vast Drift moving from waystation to waystation before finally arriving ... where they're meant to go.

I'd love to see an open world AP sort of like Kingmaker or Skull & Shackles. Personally I love hexploration, but I don't know how much people would actually want something like that. I think the Skull & Shackles formula could work really well with Starfinder though.

I haven't played/read most of S&S yet, but my "Kingmaker for Starfinder" expectation involves carving out turf within the Diaspora on behalf of some corporation or church, and dealing with pirates, sabotage by rival corporations, Vesk separatists, Aliens-style lost mining colonies, and working up to fending off some powerful invaders' attempts to establish a toehold in the Pact Worlds system.

    we do not know this.

The Gap may well include the "present day" in Pathfinder.

All the "facts" which we've been presented with in Golarion's history having been remembered are from before the death of Aroden - Iomedae's ascension, the Quest for the Sky, the Fall of Azlant, etc.

it might be that the "start" of the Gap is the death of Aroden.

Yeah, I realize it's unlikely, but I can dream.

I'm just so annoyed by the whole gap and Golarion being missing. Even if it was done for a very good reason, it seems like it was just lazy writing. "Well, we could come up with a couple thousand years of history between present-day Pathfinder and present-day Starfinder, or we could just hide Golarion away and make everyone forget everything older than a couple hundred years ago." "The second one sounds good to me Bob, it's less work and we have a deadline in a month"

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Even if the second one is the "easy way" I love it much more, then a designed history of Golarion from the fantasy to the modern age.
Why? Because this would bring up a LOT of senseless discussions, logic holes etc.
So simply let it (and the history) vanish is the easy, clean way and also add some more mythic flair to the game.

A AP featuring corporations going to war with one another, with the PCs caught in the middle (working for various sides, or with a favored corporation), and other factions getting drawn into the conflict. The capstone of the AP would be the PCs taking down the big bad corporation.

what might be fun is the PCs being / acquiring command of some kind of experimental ship that the Pact Worlds have built in order to help turn the tide against the Swarm.

Then the ship becomes part of the struggle betwixt the (ultimately) short sided space aliens but key to defeating the Swarm.

I mean at some point they're going to have to do a Gray/Reptoid-centric, Secret Invasion style AP.

The Vesk, the Azlanti, the Swarm, even the Dominion of the Black are all pretty straight forward, alien empire bent on invading & either subjugating or killing us all. Fairly straight forward threats, even if they all come in their own flavor; Vesk in their cold war klingon style, Azlanti in their Imperium of Man style, the Dominion in their lovecraftian brain eater style, and the Swarm in it's Star Ship Trooper glory.

Reptoids infiltrating society and turning it in on itself, especially with all those other threats looming, is a very different plot.

Aside from that, on the more fantasy end of things I'd like to see something daemon or qlippoth centric. Feel like those two groups never really got their due in PF.

That would be interesting given that Pathfinder cast kaiju as very much a mythic threat, though obviously not all colossal-sized monsters were such, it would still be interesting on how that would be handled in the transition.

Also daimalkans are pretty high on my wish list for playable races so yeah, here's hoping.
