Hi all. I'm afraid that standard Pathfinder has gotten a bit complex, and too full of options to really capture the feel I'm looking for in a game, however I love the fluff. This really shows up in PbP which is already slow without complicating it more.
This is for preliminary interest in either Mummy's Mask, or Reign of Winter using the 13th Age RPG rule set.
Any interest?

13th Age is a d20 game made by two lead designers from 3rd and 4th edition. It has a very modern feel while being a more narrative game than 3rd/Pathfinder (which I'd consider more simulationist). They have a free SRD available here.
I'd be very interested in playing either using the 13th Age ruleset, its easily my favorite set of rules and I'm currently running a Kingmaker game with it!

I'm very interested. I'm looking through some of the info now. If we can find links to info from 13 True Ways, the expansion, are we able to use it? I'm very curious how they will handle the monk and occultist classes, plus the druids sound beastly.
13 True ways isn't out yet. The monk and the captain are in playtest if you've pre-ordered the book (or bought the bestiary, I believe). There's little information about the druid and last I heard, they'd decided to make the necromancer a multi-class only class. Although we have no idea how that will develop or even what that means!

Mummy's Mask in the 13th age it is.
OK. I was really just posting this for interest more than recruiting, but it looks like there might be enough interest to start planning the campaign. I'll be away from home on business for three of the four weeks in April, so I'm going to shoot for Monday May 5th as campaign start time. In the mean time I'll go through the adventure, and the 13th age book again, and begin posting in campaign information.
The second book in Mummy's Mask should be out by then, and maybe even the pdf of 13 true ways (Fingers crossed). Start talking about player concepts etc, and you might have an inside towards being part of the game. If we come up with enough interest here, I'll probably not do an official recruitment thread, but if not then I'll start one just before kick off time.

The Ruby Prince should probably be an Icon, no? Perhaps a leader of the Pahmet dwarves too? A leader in the Church of Pharasma? The leader of the Risen Guard (Khopeshman of Sothis)? Amenopheus, the Sapphire Sage as an Icon within the Pathfinder Society?

Assuming the AP is focused on Osirion, I'm suggesting some of the major players in the region. Not sure if they play a role or not. Technically, Amenopheus is in Absalom, but he's the logical Pathfinder Society tie-in and they would seem like a good faction to play out via the Icon mechanic.

After reading through the 13th Age Icons again last night, I'm thinking that I might be able to find powerful beings in Golarion to match up pretty well. Those that I can't find a good match for, I might just make some up for the AP. Since parties are preformed, and travelling to enter the tombs, there might be a group of people with agendas.

Right now I have: 1) The Church of Pharasma, 2) The Pathfinder Society, 3) The Ruby Prince.
I'll keep reading the adventure, as well as some of the supplemental work this week. I agree that a handful of Icons will be enough to start, and I can add more as the AP Reveals itself.
On my second pass through the rules, this really seems to lend itself to PbP well. Looking forward to getting things started.

Ahriman and his evil cult, the Usij would be a good one for the region. They're more Thuvia and no idea if they or the divs play a role, but certainly a powerful villainous force in the immediate area. They also link in with the Pharoah of Forgotten Plagues.

Just to keep this alive, I haven't forgotten this game yet...am still reading and developing concepts. I have decided that the Pharaoh of forgotten Plagues, should definitely be another Icon...but find myself wondering how much of a role Icons will really play in this AP since they mainly serve to drive a plot direction, and AP's already have that. I'll keep reading...

Who says we're stuck with the motivations as presented in the book. One of the awesome things about 13th age is if for example we pick the Pahmet Dwarves for positive relationships and then roll them it's them who's sent us on a mission. Who cares that the AP says it's the Church of Pharasma.

OK. Everybody that's still interested chime in with a rough concept. I'm going to try and work on this a lot this weekend, and finish reading what I need to next week for starting on Monday the 5th. I think having the character concepts come in at the same time as I'm plotting the adventure would be a help, so let's get the ball rolling.
I'm not a giant proponent of "balance" in games and think that that was the ruination of 4th edition, and part of the complexity problem with d20 games...so let's use the 4d6, drop the lowest, arrange as you'd like method for stat creation. I almost went with 3d6 in order...but converting Pathfinder adventures would really be a chore then.
We'll skip the Icon Relationships for now, as I'm still debating how I'm going to implement this in the game, but everything else should be RAW. You can PM me if there are any questions or concerns that you don't want publicized, otherwise lets keep things spoiler free on the recruitment thread, and develop this party together.
Please use the "Players guide" for "The Mummy's Mask" for inspiration for your character.

Thinking of playing an old surely priest of Phrasma. He had recently died but was rejected by Phrasma and told he still had business to do in Osirion.

I'm actually running a very quickly paced RoW 1 13th Age right here, and have a slot or 2 available.
Please note that the game will be very quickly paced with multiple posts/day expected.

I have an idea for a dwarf that has been carrying his family's curse. Someone in his family was cursed by a great undead Phararo for deeds lost to history. The curse forced the generations to live on the sands and wander the desert.
At least that is what my hero thought was the extent of his curse and the reason for being ostracized from his people. The real reason he was cast out (along with his kin before him) was the curse actually mingled his blood with the jinn. The odd mix of blood for a dwarf (which manifests into a chaotic mix of magic) and his ability to easily survive in the hostility of the desert makes him an obvious outsider to his people.

I bought and read 13th Age when it came out and thought it looked really good but I haven't looked at it since. Glad to know they're coming out with more stuff. I'll need to go through the rules again though. I'm thinking maybe a rogue/thief type. Everyone complains about how bad they are in PF; maybe I'll give the 13th Age version a shot.

I'm going to delay this for a while till I get the 2nd and 3rd books in. I got in the second, but it was severely damaged, so they should come in at the same time. Going to put off starting till early June. I know that's not ideal, but not a lot of interest anyway. I'll let you guys know in advance, but will probably do a more attractive recruiting thread at that time.
