Scarab Sages

The subject pretty much explains it. I'm looking for a GM and players in or near Sumner to play with. I prefer to play over being a GM as I like not knowing as much about what is going on and am sometimes bad at planning my time to prep.

I've run homebrew games for BESM, BESM d20, DnD 3.5, and Pathfinder and also played in a few WoD campaigns in addition to those systems.

I very rarely play magical characters and like combat types and religious and philosophical ideals that are a bit eccentric.

Yo, Graham GM/Player here. I don't have a group right now, and I'll be working the Spring fair so anything more than getting to know one another's playstyles and such should probably wait until after.

There's PFS at Nerdy Stuffs on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Starts at 1 PM. Nerdy Stuffs is near PLU, Parkland Plaza to be specific.

I would invite y'all to my Horrifically Mythically Overpowered Kingmaker game, but I don't know y'all and don't know if y'all would be interested. ;)

PFS is definitely not my thing, though KIOS might be interested.

Horrifically Mythically Overpowered Kingmaker intrigues me though, what more can you tell us about it (available sources, the current party makeup, any plans they've discussed for their Kingmaking, etc)

Scarab Sages

I'd be happy to get in on a game, but pathfinder society growth, story and skill limitations are well...kinda sucky for regular group play. Still, it's definitely something I might check out to meet new GMs.

Our usually PFS group isn't a bunch of socially awkward min-maxers, for the most part. We enjoy a good story, and tend to play connected scenarios with the same characters which allows for more character growth.

I understand if you'd been burnt by piles of numbers with zero personality, but that's not us.

As for my Horrifically Mythically Overpowered Kingmaker game: It uses a stronger variant of the Gestalt variant from the 3.5 D&D Unearthed Arcana, Horrifically Overpowered feats from Rogue Genius Games, a somewhat modified version of the Mythic rules from Mythic Adventures, and whatever else seems fun and exciting. Also, story usually trumps rules, so if you can come up with an awesome background for your character, I'd consider a Barbarian/Paladin. ;)

I would definitely like to get in on that in a few weeks. Which days do you run, and can you summarize each of the PC's? (Class/Role type summary, maybe a bit about personality as well.)

Dark Archive

We play on alternating Sundays, with this upcoming Sunday being our next session, at the home of one of the players.

Griffith Utarefson d'Garess (male dwarf inquisitor of Cayden Cailean/fighter [polearm master] 5/guardian 1): One of two remaining original party members. He has a low Charisma, but has managed to draw in the last mite from an encounter, and a faerie dragon that prefers alcohol to fruit/candy. He fights with a dwarven longhammer and has so far managed to not see the true nature of his faerie dragon friend. He isn't the dwarfiest of dwarves, and was made a ward of House Garess when it became obvious to his father he wouldn't be following in his steps. Played by Mark, the regular GM for the games taking place on alternating Monday/Tuesday at Fantasium in Federal Way.

Lissi Everstar (female sylph witch/gunslinger 5/archmage 1): The other remaining original party member, played by my brother. Has a pet cat and tends to not be very helpful in combat due to dying in the second encounter of the campaign, even though she got better (she has the Extra-Lives HO feat). She doesn't know her father, but has an ifrit half-sister. My brother, Dimitri, a social troglodyte, but he can be an okay roleplayer when the stars are properly aligned.

Guano Dung (male svirfneblin monk [master of many styles]/druid [bat shaman] 5/???? 1): A deep gnome they found being tortured by some dread zombie derro alchemists in a chamber of the Temple of the Elk. He has a dire bat animal companion named Poo Fighter. He was driven from his Darklands settlement after failing to successfully challenge for leadership. Played by Jon, who also hosts the game at his home in Bonney Lake.

Karisha Bala Ka'tal (female rakshasa-spawned tiefling aegis/soulknife 5/??? 1): Somewhat of a traveling merchant employed by House Surtova. She believes she is a catfolk, and that her birth mother is really her adopted mother. She is mostly focused on acquiring power, in the form of wealth and influence. Played by Leah, a trained chef, and transplant from New Jersey.

Bam-Bam (male halfling rogue/barbarian [titan mauler] 4/champion 1 - most likely, he's the newest member of the group and we haven't finalized his build, he's the brother-in-law of the guy playing Guano Dung): A pint-sized damage dealer who drunkenly stumbled into the camp on day.

There are also many NPC allies the group has acquired, which I don't have time to list at the moment, because I need to get ready for work.

Huh, so new players come in one level behind?

(I don't really need the NPC's, just wanted to know what the PC's have so I know which kind of toes to avoid stepping on in Character Design.)

I notice you're including DSP classes. In general, would roughly anything on the d20pfsrd be open to GM review?

Dark Archive

With a good enough backstory, I'll allow almost anything. The only class I don't allow for PC use is the Savant from Kobold Press, for bookkeeping reasons.

Awesome. I definitely won't be ready by this Sunday (nor would I imagine we'd be able to sort out the little details that quickly) but it would rock if I could be part of the next game after that.

I'll try to have a character ready for review within one week from now.

What time of day does the game start at anyway?

Dark Archive

Though I can see how an invitation could be perceived from what I wrote, there was not an invitation in what I wrote. I was asked to say more about my game, so I did, and included a little about how willing I am as a GM to allow "non-standard" things to be played in my games.

Kyrt, if you'd like to join my game, show up at some PFS games I'll be at so we can talk about things, and stop by for some games at Fantasium in Federal Way.

The next PFS session I'm playing in will be on 12 April, 2014, a Saturday, at Nerdy Stuffs. The game starts at 1300.

The next game at Fantasium is on 7 April, 2014, a Monday. The game starts at 1430. Sadly, my job prevents me from being part of the Fantasium game. :(

Scarab Sages

Thanks for the information. Hopefully I'll be able to make one of the Nerdy Stuffs or Fantasium games at one point, though I'm unable to drive at the moment.

Does anyone know of games closer to the Sumner/Puyallup/South Hill area?

Dark Archive

Kios, if you'd like, I'm willing to play taxi.
