Pretty awesome set up. Only...
When I log on for the first time, I want to see all the threads listed when I go to a board. After that, by default, I only want to see threads that have new (to me) messages in them. When I read a thread, I don't want to have to sift through all the old stuff I already read, I just want to see the new stuff. I do want to be able to go back and see the whole thread (or, in the summary, all the threads) if I so choose. If I log off, and then log back on later, I want the software to remember the "read" or "unread" state of each thread, including the last message I read in that thread.
The Focus thing is nice, but it doesn't quite do the trick for me. For one thing, it only remembers which threads I've looked at, not which messages. For another, it doesn't seem to include, when I'm "focussed", new threads that have been added since my last visit. Also, some threads are displayed as less bold than others, but I'm not sure what differentiates one set from the other, and besides, it's hard to see (for me, anyway) which ones are which.
Maybe there's a way to do what I want, but I haven't found it. I did check the FAQ.

I think focus actually does 90% of what you want. It keeps track of read/unread state and new messages in any thread you've read. The dots represent threads you've posted in.
The part that's missing is that it does not know how to gauge your interest in a thread you haven't yet clicked on. I've been toying with ideas for how to promote this kind of discovery ever since we got focus, but it's a hard problem to solve and other things keep coming up.

I thought I would post here instead of making a new thread.
What I would like to see is an icon showing that the thread is locked.
A favorite forum of mine called TrekBBS.com uses icons off to the side. These icons can represent a thread being moved but my favorite is the one for being locked.
I go into a thread here and there may be 3 or 4 pages and I may go and read all of them with the intent of posting. But when I get to the end I find that it has been locked.
I don't see anything that says it has been locked. I know there is the person who takes care of that area and I would have to memorize that area, but I usually forget. It's nice to know right up front.

I hear you on this, but I've figured out a quick way to check. As soon as you drop in, check if you can reply to posts. If Reply is there, it's not locked. If Reply is not there, it is locked. Quick, easy, and visible as soon as you enter the thread. Still not quite as quick as seeing an icon before you even enter the thread, but it's enough for me.
