Slower Than Light - A 4X game with no FTL - Kickstarter

So a good buddy of mine and former GM for many a game recently released a kickstarter for Slower Than Light. It is a 4X game where you build a space empire, but unlike similar games of the genre light speed is a hard cap on movement and communications. Build your space empire as the time delay between instructions and action increases. Who knows what your outer colonies are doing today?

I'm interested in how he'll be able to pull it off.

Clearly he's a fan of The Forever War!


Esciting concept, but as he acknowledges, he hasn't given very much detail about the mechanics of the game. I'd have hear more about that before committing. I know that he has promised more info. on just that this week and in the weeks to come, but there's a very real chance I won't remember to to check the Kickstarter page or his website's blog to find out more information.

I can respect keeping the opening text on the Kickstarter page light, but he should have had links for people interested in finding out more information about the game ready before he launched the KS campaign.


He posted a Demo and some gameplay videos on his blog.

Eh, not interested, i prefer my communication to be done by FTL. Might check it out when it comes out.


I took a look and am interested. I'll have to see about backing it.

But the time dilation was pretty extreme with centuries passing while one was using an FTL jump point.
