Paladins of Abadar and mass production of Bestow Grace potions

So, I know a lot of GMs straight up ban Bestow Grace or at least potions or wands of it.

For the most part, in home games, I house rule that because it requires a paladin with Brew Potion (somewhat limited in the regions where our adventures take place), it's not an item that can easily be found. And then, even if a paladin can be found who can brew potions, they aren't always willing to mass produce a dozen of these potions since it requires them to "actually infuse them with a portion of their holy virtue."

Essentially, I'm reading the flavor text as restricting widespread distribution of potions of Bestow Grace, mostly because it's an insanely powerful potion for a mere 400gp, especially for oracles, bards, sorcerers, etc who will have a 22-28 charisma in the mid-levels and could use it to gain +6 to +9 on all their saves prior to major fights.

One of my players brought up an interesting point - if you were a Paladin of Abadar, these would undoubtedly be a very hot selling item.

I'm wondering what folks thoughts are on a Temple of Abadar bottling up their divine grace for widespread distribution... would Abadar look down upon his flock and think "good job guys", or...?

Hm, well as long is it doesn't totally break the economy, I'm pretty sure Abadar wouldn't have a problem with it. Actually hold on... yeah, he says it's a great idea. Share the Grace!

Eh, sure. Why not? It's 400 gp a pop, and only useful to Charisma based characters. And only helps saves, not anything else.

On the other hand...you're right that Paladins of Abadar would totally make and sell this stuff, but they'd likely be the only ones and big believers in supply and demand, so they might easily charge more than list prices, since they have what amounts to a monopoly.

Now, being Good, they'll likely drop back to list prices (or below) 'in a good cause', but that's hardly a universal situation...

Or maybe being Paladins, they might too be busy with Evil to smite somewhere to devote their lives to paper and paychecks, or is that too radical a thought?

Somehow I doubt that even Abadar would be calling someone to the path of a Paladin for the sole purpose of managing a cash till?

As a paladin, i'd be slightly concerned about misuse caused by making potions of that spell freely available. After all, good folk aren't the only ones who would wish to use them. There are plenty of Evil Oracles, Bards, Sorcerers, etc. I'd be more likely to make them for trusted friends and companions at request then to throw them to open market.

Even Paladins retire and take leadership/training roles. I'm sure they can manage a few potions too while they're at it

Good folk are the only ones who can use it

With this spell you can bestow your divine grace on another good creature for a short amount of time, infusing that creature with a portion of your holy virtue. When you touch the subject, you grant that creature a sacred bonus to its saving throws equal to its Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws.

only someone who is Good can benefit from the spell, therefor the potions would only work on Good Aligned people

So mass producing this potion means that all the local good people are able to protect themselves better and the Evil people get bupkiss from it. Those non-good people foolish enough to buy it end up just giving a 400gp donation to the church and gain no benefit from it.

Oh, of course not. But nobody fights Evil 24/7, and doing something productive in their off-hours sounds exactly like the sort of thing a follower of Abadar would do.
