This game is part of the Official Pathfinder Society PbP Game Day. For more information please visit: http://PbPGameday.com

#5-12 : Destiny of the Sands, Part I: A Bitter Bargain
When
: Will start April 5th, 2014
Where: Here!
Who: PCs can be level 1 to 5, sub-tiers of 1-2 and 4-5.
What: Amenopheus has learned that the legacy of the Jeweled Sages lies near the Osirian trade city of Eto, and the Pathfinder Society has pledged its support in the Sapphire Sage’s investigation of his ancient order; however the lead dried up—that was until a familiar information broker contacted Amenopheus offering an exchange of services. To assist an ally and unlock the secrets of Osirion’s past, the Society must deal with a deadly antagonist once more by sending the PCs to fulfill the bargain and collect its due. The only question is what price their foe will demand.

Dot here with your character or options. As this is a Pathfinder Society game, only legal Pathfinder Society characters need apply. If there is enough interest, I may be persuaded to run two tables simultaneously.

Once part 1 is completed, I would be willing to jump right into Part 2 with the same party. The game day lasts until July 5th! So if we complete Part 2 within that time-frame, it will count for the Game Day (meaning a chance at a boon!).

Dark Archive

Borax Bulan - I think he'll be level 2 Investigator by the time this starts.

Scarab Sages

Heya Sior, count me as interested.

Alchemist (Mindchemist) level 3.

Scarab Sages

Hiya!

I'm very interested. Mikhaere here is currently in a scenario but he should be well and truly done that by the time this begins.

Tengu Druid 3 (he should level up to 4 after this adventure, if it matters for part 2.)

GM Only Please:
I'm reading "familiar information broker" as referring to our good old friend Grandmaster Torch. Mikhaere loathes him after playing through The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch, Delirium's Tangle, and Silent Tide. It would be wonderful to see the old bastard again so Mikhaere can get all grumpy. :)

Scarab Sages

I'd love taking part in this series with my Osirion character. She's in a PbP game now, but I expect it to finish before April 5th. Count me in!

Level 4 wizard by the way, #76446-4

Scarab Sages

I'd like to play with this character, though if his current game isn't done by April 5th, I can swap out to another new level 1.

Archaeologist Bard 1, #1142-6

Liberty's Edge

Am interested too. Ifrit rogue level 2.. Pfs 60963-8

Count me as interested!

Sovereign Court

Thank you, all, for your quick interest in a game that's still a month away from starting!

If this keeps up, I'll definitely have two tables on my hands. So I'll just keep a list of players going and we can sort things out to table as the time nears.

Mikhaere, no worries at all for level. Parts 1 and 2 are both 1-5, however part 3 is for some reason a 3-7. (I did not recall when part 3 released, so did not mention it in the intro post, but logically we should be able to hit up number 3 after part 2 regardless if the Game Day is still going or not.)

1. Borax Bulan - Investigator 2
2. Arovandeon Isero - Alchemist 3
3. Mikhaere - Druid 3
4. Ouroborei - Wizard 4
5. Professor Dario Westone - Archaeologist 1
6. Ikerhsien - Rogue 2
7. Tektite - ________

Dark Archive

I might like to jump into this with Darvik here if we have completed the MotTM game in time, Sior.

Scarab Sages

I've got a couple of characters I'd like to play if you're opening up a second table.

Guilford would be 4th level - he's in a module, but it should be done in time.

I also have an inquisitor that will be 3rd level by the start date (one GM chronicle away).

If you're thinking of running all three parts, I'd be happy to commit to that.

Scarab Sages

With Guilford, Arovandeon, Ouroborei and myself, we get an APL of 3.5, causing us to play down with the 6-person adjustment. If we can get another character around our level, we can play up, which would be my personal preference.

Perhaps we could have a high tier and a low tier table going?

I have multiple characters from 2-5, just not sure who to bring yet.

Sovereign Court

I am thinking it will be high and low tables. At least that may well be the best layout for 2 tables.

FTR, when calculating APL, I always round x.5 to x+1, so even a 3.5 APL would round up to high sub-tier, even if with a 4-player conversion.

Liberty's Edge

Noted with thanks :)

Grand Lodge

Sior - My Zen Archer will be one XP away from second level to start this, so he wouldn't quite make 3rd level for the third installment of this series. I also probably won't want to have him tied up for PaizoCon (which is right at the end of PbP Gameday, as you probably know).

So, various questions come to mind: is this a problem? Could I just play the first two? Or I could play the first two during Gameday, pick up some XP at PaizoCon and be the right level for the third installment - if the stars all align proper-like.

Your thoughts?

Sovereign Court

Prothero,

No, it is not a problem at all. While these scenarios are intended to be played in order, I see nothing currently saying they must be played back to back. If that were the case, why the hell would they make the third one a higher tier? I do currently expect that there will be some people unable to continue through to Part III. So we can consolidate tables as need be.

If it turns out we need to stagger a start for the third part, or delay it entirely until after Paizo Con, then that works. My goal is to give as much opportunity to those who want to play as I can! =)

Actually, I did not know when Paizo Con was this year, hahaha.

Sovereign Court

Here's an updated collection of names and levels. Nearly have two full tables already, though the levels are mostly middling.

1. Borax Bulan - Investigator 2
2. Arovandeon Isero - Alchemist 3
3. Mikhaere - Druid 3
4. Ouroborei - Wizard 4
5. Professor Dario Westone - Archaeologist 1
6. Ikerhsien - Rogue 2
7. Tektite - ________
8. Darvik Willowbrook - Fighter 2
9. Guildord Baldwin - Wizard 3
10. Prothero Crace - Zen Archer 1

One lvl 4
Three lvl 3
Three lvl 2
Two lvl 1
One flexible.
These levels, of course, may change before the start date, but it gives us a jumping off point.

Grand Lodge

Great! Then I'd like to jump on board. The idea of playing two scenarios, and thus having multiple opportunities for boons, is very attractive, assuming I've understood how that works in this situation.

Looks like we're overall pretty melee-light, and being an archer, Prothero won't be changing that much. Curious to see who else shows up.

Edit: ninja'd by the DM! We're a wee bit less melee light now that the list is updated.

Sior, you still have room for another low level for this?

Sovereign Court

Indeed I do! One more low level character would flesh out a low-tier table. Who did you have in mind?

I'm not sure yet Sior. I've got so many 1st level society characters to pick from. I'll have a look at who's in the list already and what the setting of the scenario is and then pick one who fits best.

edit: Alkenstar Thrune (Archaeologist 1, Qadiran faction) will hopefully be finished Voice in the Void by then (we started the first week of December and have been in the what I hope is the final room for the last couple weeks). If he's somehow still not available, I'll start a new Osirion faction cleric instead.

Scarab Sages

Sior, I hate to do it, but I'm going to withdraw from this game. The group I've just played 3 scenarios with is continuing on into the Destiny of Sands series and I'd like to stick with them.

Sovereign Court

No worries! I can completely understand that.

Updated roster.
1. Borax Bulan - Investigator 2
2. Mikhaere - Druid 3
3. Ouroborei - Wizard 4
4. Professor Dario Westone - Archaeologist 1
5. Ikerhsien - Rogue 2
6. Tektite - ________
7. Darvik Willowbrook - Fighter 2
8. Guildord Baldwin - Wizard 3
9. Prothero Crace - Zen Archer 1
10. ZanThrax - _____ low
11.
12.

1's and 2's
Borax Bulan
Professor Dario Westone
Ikerhsien
Darvik Willowbrook
Prothero Crace
ZanThrax

3's and 4's
Mikhaere
Ouroboreia
Guilford Baldwin

With Tektite going where he wants to, hahaha.

Scarab Sages

Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Sets a trap for Tektite.

You know you wanna get us into high tier, maaaan...

Scarab Sages

Plus, you can't just let two wizards and a druid have all the fun, wot? Why, it'd hardly be a proper outing without some stout chap in front!

Sovereign Court

Oh goodness, that is the current composition, isn't it? Well, we have a couple weeks yet before it's finalized and we can get started at last.

Grand Lodge

Some curious composition in both groups: the low table has 2 rogues, a rogue-ish bard, a fighter, an archer and a PC to be named later. We are divine-less, not so very arcane-loaded, and skilled for days, though perhaps not overly knowledgeable. And at least 4 of us should be quite stealthy.

We clearly need a barbarian! Or maybe Zanthrax should go with his cleric plan. Maybe that'd be better.

Scarab Sages

Or we can try to go max stealth/skill on this one. Sometimes PFS will have things to reward that route, but it's definitely harder than the norm. We still, of course, need to be able to kill stuff.

Dark Archive

If there's still room available, I'd like to play part I (and II), lvl 4 (maybe lvl 5 by the time we will start , currently lvl 1 cleric/lvl 3 inquisitor negative channeler).

Ouch!

Well...I was thinking of bringing my Osirion Gunslinger (Musket Master) 3 / Alchemist (Grenadier) 1, but by the time this roles around, I should also have my Sczarni Ranger (Freebooter) 2 / Bard (Seas Singer) 2 available as well.

I know Sior loves Gunslingers!

Sovereign Court

I'm just sad I haven't yet killed a gunslinger. Well, I have, but it was a pregen, so that doesn't really count, does it?

The more I learn about slingers, the less I dislike them. So if you do decide on that one, I promise not to be TOO prejudiced against it. ;-)

I can offer a Ranger-3 or Druid-5 if needing to round out the high-tier table.

Sovereign Court

Elena, I'm sorry I totally missed your post until now. Tektite distracted me with talk of gunslingers! Hahaha.

Aarvid, plugging you into the tentative high-tier table, either 3 or 5 would still put the table at high tier

Better late then never ;)

It's a good thing that Alkenstar will still be level one for this. This talk of Sior offing gunslingers would have me worried otherwise.

(Still working on a cleric in case my Bard's not freed up by the start date.)

Sovereign Court

I've never offed a gunslinger! No one's said that! ... <.< ... >.> ...

There seemed to be an implied "yet" in the discussion though... :)

I have a Barb 4 or a Bard 4 i can play..

Okay, I finished my new Cleric. Defah IV Godspeaker is a Pahmet cleric of Nethys; I'll use him rather than Alkenstar.

Sovereign Court

WerePox, I have you in.

Zan, grand! Are you absolutely sure you don't want to play your gunslinger???

1. Borax Bulan - Investigator 2 - Table 1
2. Mikhaere - Druid 3 - Table 2
3. Ouroborei - Wizard 4 - Table 2
4. Professor Dario Westone - Archaeologist 1 - Table 1
5. Ikerhsien - Rogue 2 - Table 1
6. Tektite - ________ 4(?) - Table 2
7. Darvik Willowbrook - Fighter 2 - Table 1
8. Guildord Baldwin - Wizard 3 - Table 2
9. Prothero Crace - Zen Archer 1 - Table 1
10. ZanThrax - Cleric 1 - Table 1
11. Elena Rasputin - Cerlinquisitor 4 - Table 2
12. GM Aarvid - Ranger 3 or Druid 5 - Table 2
13. WerePox47 - Barb 4 or Bard 4 - Table 2 Alternate

Alkenstar wouldn't actually get to level 2 and his Gunslinger dip until he finishes both parts of Destiny. But I'm not sure that doubling up on Archaeologists will serve the group well.

Grand Lodge

I think that's a fine decision, ZanThrax. A cleric will complement the group nicely, and I have to agree, we don't need another archaelogist. Now I just need April 5th to get here, and for my current game to get wrapped up in time for this one to start.

Scarab Sages

Guilford and company are about to launch their final assault in their current module. He's laid down his best buffs, now we're going to break into the BBEG's room.

This one's a win or die. If a win, Gil makes the jump to 4th level!

Sovereign Court

Guilford, I'm playing in that one. There will be a win. Even when we have to kill the traitorous "help" we just picked up. At least, that's what Baldwyn tells me.

We just finished up Voices in the Void, so Alkenstar is free. But I think I like my new Cleric enough to go that way. Although, I may take advantage of the society rules about making changes between scenarios for the first level if AP 80 comes out before he hits level 2. Depending on what the subdomains of the old Osirion gods turn out to be, I may decide to switch from Nethys to one of the ancients.

Liberty's Edge

Dior, my Druid 5 was picked up for another mission, so this is my Ranger-3 (for GM Aarvid)

Scarab Sages

Sior, I totally forgot you were playing that! Yes, Baldwyn should be able to pound whatever we find...

Sovereign Court

Provided he doesn't run screaming. Again...

Scarab Sages

I'm also playing in that one! Let's hope the Heart doesn't kill us all.

By the way Sior, did you create a campaign for the second table (for dotting purposes)?
