It's not obvious from that link how we are to fill our games and how we are to get that information to the organizers.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Online

It is in the "Detail" Section of the post:

-------------------------------------------------------

GMs: If you would like to GM a game during the PbP Gameday, please decide what game you would like to run and then submit it to the following form, and then muster your games as you normally would:

http://goo.gl/h4a8oC

-------------------------------------------------------

I will see if I can make it more prominent in the post

Liberty's Edge 2/5

...but not in the Getting Started > Online GMs link

A better link to get to the destination in question would be:
http://pathfindersocietyonline.com/category/event/pbp-game-day/

Thanks for getting this going.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Jesse,

Just so I understand the mustering process.

If I have a "Public" muster on a third-party side (mythweavers PFS PbP), do the players sign up on our site and I send the player info to you once the game is full?

or,

do the players sign up through the event link you posted above somehow?
(This would make my muster somewhat redundant)

Hurrah!!! Excited for this!

Time to decide what to run. :)

edit: Maybe we can get one of the specials going through this?

Dotting this thread! Can't wait for day number two!

Excellent! Thanks for putting together another one of these!

Hey, Greycloak:

You will muster your game like you would for one of your regular games - we do not actually need the player list up front.

Just submit the link to the post you are mustering in when you register the game.

You will only submit the players to us when you are reporting the game after you are done running the scenario.

Make sense?

Jesse, I suggest making this a sticky thread, at least until after the game day is done and the boons (if any) have been sent out.

4/5 5/55/5

Another suggestion is to put this - or a referring post - up in the recruitment forum. That's where most PbP folks come to look.

Sovereign Court 5/5

That'll make it useful to folks like us.
Have setup a table and will be running for another private group as well.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

In the interests of keeping this well-organised -- and taking off some of the burden from Jesse and the crew -- I have created a spreadsheet of all the (public) games I could find being run for the game day.

The spreadsheet should be publicly editable. I will keep an eye on Paizo's recruitment board in particular, but I'm not a member of MythWeavers and I'm certainly not going to keep the "Open?" status updated for every game. So, GMs, please go ahead and edit things/add things as you like.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Online

Thanks, GM Alice. We appreciate the effort. :)

There is a list of games on the official site that would be the best place to follow - You can find the link in the original post and here:

http://pathfindersocietyonline.com/2014/03/pbp-game-day-2-game-list

Only public games are listed and some people have not submitted links for recruitment.

It will be updated daily.

Thanks a bunch,

Well, that wasn't up (as far as I could tell) when I made the spreadsheet. ;P

Mine has some bonus information though (full tables, notes etc), so I guess it's worth keeping.

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5

I must say I like that sheet.

I understand trying something different this time and allowing GM's more flexibility in munstering their own players, but I kind of liked the warhorn site last time. I find it nice to have an overview so I can see what's available and where there is still room.

Updated GM Alice's spreadsheet with my table - let's give this whole GMing PBP thing a shot.

Very nice Alice!

2/5

Thanks Alice! I just added my recently listed game.

So here's a question - you want us to run no more than two games at once (which I can't exceed anyway)

So let's say I have one public and one private game I want to run right off the bat. Then I want to run a couple of private games right after those finish.

Can they all be part of the Game day, and do I receive product support for all of them?

Thanks!

This sounds really cool! I've never played or run a Play-by-Post before, and I'd be interested to try. I could play or GM.

Is there a primer somewhere on how to sign up, recruit, and/or run one of these games?

Sovereign Court 4/5

Many thanks to Alice for putting that list there! Having it organized by scenario really helps in finding one that hasn't been played, and listing the GM helps as well. Kudos!

Tamago,

Check out this thread or this thread for general information/tips on PbP, and this thread for getting stuff set up specifically for PFS.

Recruitment is typically done on the Recruitment forum here. Have a look at some of the other threads for examples.

If you've got any questions in particular, shoot us a question :)

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Since the listed sites are blocked for government computers, (I'm deployed), could I get someone to Copy/Paste the info here?

Or email it to Darthbeckett@Gmail.com

Also, please sticky this thread so that all the people that post recruitments in the wrong place do not drowned this one out.

(Please make sure and read through the FAQ before listing a game.)

FAQ:

Will There be Boon/Prize Support?

Yes, there will – assuming we breach the 15 table limit to qualify. (You guys rocked out around 75 tables last time so this should not be an issue.)

How/When will boons be provided?

Boons will be sent out to GMs and players as the games are submitted for reporting to the Online VOs. GMs will each get one GM boon for running during the game day. Both players and GMs will then be able to win additional boons at each table they are involved in. Instructions for how boons can be won will be provided to GMs before the start of the gameday.

Will GMs get the PDF for scenarios they run added to their Paizo account?

Yes – assuming we breach the 15 table limit mentioned above. Any games submitted by March 29th, 2014 @ 4 PM UTC will have the scenarios added to their accounts. (This only applies to regular PFS scenarios.)

I have the scenarios / modules I signed up to GM. May I get store credit instead?

No, you will only receive product support for the games you sign-up to run for the gameday.

Can a GM run more than one PbP table?

Yes, but we ask that you not have more than 2 concurrent games.

Can I play the same PC in multiple PbP games at the same time?

No – You can only have any given PC active in one game at at time.

Can we both GM and Play?

Absolutely.

Do PbP games for the Game Day have to run only on the Paizo forums?

Absolutely not. Whatever PbP forum you choose is perfectly fine.

Can I participate in this gameday by continuing with my current game?

No, this gameday is for games being organized for the Gameday. Only games registered for the gameday, and starting/ending between the dates above, will be eligible.

I would like to GM for a private group as part of the Gameday – is this OK?

Yes. The caveat being that you must still submit your game to the VO form and must report your game through the VOs like the public games.

Will there be any way to know which website the public PbP games are hosted on?

Yes. As GMs submit their games to us we will list them here :

http://pathfindersocietyonline.com/2014/03/pbp-game-day-2-game-list

Can I run Bonekeep?

Not at this time. Due to it’s special nature, Mike Brock has not approved it for PbP Online Play.

Can I run a Mutli-Table Special for the Game Day?

Right now there are no Mutli-Table specials approved for run by Mike – these will be included in future game days though.

Will there be a set of guidelines provided for GMs/Players to follow during the gameday?

There will be some suggested/optional guidelines provided to GMs closer to the gameday. This will be a beta set of simple guidelines you can use if you like.

If my game finishes faster than I planned, can I run another game?

Absolutely. If you have enough time to finish before the deadline, please fell free to start additional games if you like. Make sure you still submit the game to the VO game registry. Also keep in mind that we will not be able to provide free PDFs for games submitted after March 29th, 2014 @ 4 PM UTC.

If you have any questions or concerns please email the Online Venture Officers @ PFSOnlineVOs@gmail.com

Sorry, the formatting is a bit yucky. I tried to at least bold the questions.

2/5

Just a question, as I have heaps of interest in one of my games, what is the maximum number of players per table 6 or 7?

Liberty's Edge 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Online

From the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play:

Legal Table Size

The minimum table size for a Pathfinder Society Organized Play session to be considered legal is four PCs. Table size is capped at six PCs. In cases in which you simply cannot seat four players, you may run a table of three players, and play an official level-appropriate pregenerated character in order to meet the minimum table size of four PCs.

Conversely, if seven players show up to an event, rather than turning someone away from the campaign altogether, consider adding a seventh person to the table. These situations should be extremely rare and should only be used as a last resort to sending someone home without the chance to play. Seven-person tables often overpower otherwise challenging adventures and limit the amount of time each player gets to shine in the given scenario, and many players prefer not to play at all rather than play at such a large table. Check with the players to determine their preferences before running a seven-person table.

One alternative to a seven-person table is to split the group into two tables of three players, and ask one of the players to serve as GM for the second table, with each GM running a pregenerated character to fill her table out.

Tables should never have eight or more players.

Going to throw my hat in and hope for the best, too. Loved playing the last PbP Game Day, so I figure I'll GM a table or two this one.

I am considering playing, and perhaps even GMing a game or two in this. However, that being said, I haven't done any PbP PFS before. I am not really sure what would be required (other than posting at least daily, etc).

How do GMs deal with movement and other tactical issues dealing with the battlemaps? Really, that's my biggest question.

Thanks!

4/5 ****

Silver, different GMs deal with it with different tools, just like IRL.

Here are several common solutions recently spotted in the wild.

A. Using Google drawings for the map with an icon for each creature. Minor tide of morning spoilers
B. using roll20 for the map and only the map
C. Using a Google docs spreadsheet as a grid. minorthornkeep1 spoiler

(Both link are to games of mine that are done so feel free to play with them.)

The first one I ran was a little rough on the technical side, but people were understanding and happy to play.

Sovereign Court 5/5

Have updated the spreadsheet. Thanks GM Alice.

I'm posting here in the interest of others who may have the same question:

Do I receive product support for every game I run, or just the first two?

To whit: We may run only 2 games concurrently, but I am sure that I can get each group through two or even three games in the 3-month time frame. So can I receive potentially 4 or more scenarios, or simply the first two? Knowing this will help me plan which games to schedule first, and so on.

Thanks!

So I'm interested in running a game for the gameday. Do I just post here and make my recruitment thread?

There's a form on the linked site that you have to fill out, this form. Then you just make your recruitment as normal.

I did that too. Should I be waiting for the go ahead or just put the thread?

Nah, I think as soon as you fill out that form you're good to go. :)

Dotted. I see no restrictions on the scenarios, right? I shall set up a pair tomorrow. :)

Liberty's Edge 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Online

Silbeg: The PbP game day is based around 3 "slots" like an in-person game day, with each slot being 30 days instead of 4 hours. (The average completion time per scenario was about 30 days last go-round.) So you can get 3 scenarios for those three slots. (They must all be started/finished during the game day of course.)

Curaigh: The only restrictions are listed in the FAQ (No bonekeep, et cetera). Any regular season 0 to season 5 PFS scenarios are fine.

GM Alice: Thanks for all your help! :)

No problemo! I loves me some PbP and I get excited that I can sort of attend a "convention" in this way. :P
