Mithral Armor Question.

So armor can be made from Mithral, making a lighter armor. This decreases the weight, the Spell Failure %, the AC Penalty, and lets you have a higher Dex bonus for AC. But what about your speed? Nowhere have I been able to find anything about speed. The closest I've gotten is:

"Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. Heavy armors are treated as medium, and medium armors are treated as light, but light armors are still treated as light. This decrease does not apply to proficiency in wearing the armor."

But I'm not sure what that means for my speed. I'm going for a Mithral Breastplate, btw, in case that makes a difference.

A mithral BP is normally a medium piece of armor as you likely know. The important part of the rule you quoted is that medium armor is treated as if it where light armor for the purposes of movement and other limitations. Since we know that light armor does not change a creatures speed then with a mithral BP your speed would be unchanged from the armor but could still be reduced based on encumbrance.

Normally, medium armor reduces a character's speed (movement) from 30 ft to 20 ft. If the medium armor is made of mithral, the character's speed (movement) is the same as if he was wearing light armor, i.e. 30 ft. A breastplate is medium armor, so in a mithral breastplate the character's speed is 30 ft, unless otherwise encumbered.

Beautiful, thank you!

Of course if the character's speed starts at 20 ft for being a dwarf or other race, the mithral armor doesn't mean that the character's speed is increased to 30 ft.

Medium Mithral Armor = No Change in Speed. Got it.

Not true. Mithral full plate still decreases your speed because it functions as medium armor for all purposes but proficiency.

So another Mithral Armor question. I know that the cost to make medium armor Mithral is 4000g, to which the masterwork cost is included. The price to make an armor +1 is 1000g. What I can't find is whether or not that also includes the masterwork price. Cause if it does, then wouldn't that mean a Mithral +1 armor costs less than 5000g+regular armor cost?

In order to pay the 1000 gp to make your armor a +1, you have to have previously paid the 150 gp during its creation (or whatever the cost is) to make it masterwork.

Masterwork is a pre-requisite to making armor magical.

Now, speaking about Mithral, the masterwork cost is included in the cost to make it mithral, so you wouldn't have to pay an additional cost.
