It occurred to me that I've not seen any reviews or comments from our favorite succubus in quite awhile. I hope nothing bad has happened to her!

I'm sure she's around.

Just sacrifice a chocolate bunny and she is bound to appear.

{gates in, looks surprised} Wha-?! Oh, chocolate... yeah, you're gonna need to be more specific. That will bring all the female outsiders to the yard.

heehee! Say, are chocolate Slaad eggs in season yet?

Biting the heads off of them is a good stress reliever or so I hear.

My chocolate bunnies bring all the girls to the yard.

She pops in now and then when Paizo announces new stuff, but she's done with reviews for a long while (if not forever). I'll let her explain why, if she feels up to it.

Well, let's look: her profile indicates that this is her most recent post--two weeks ago.
Her last review was February 12, 2012.

{yawns} Did someone mention chocolate eggs? I feel like I've been asleep for months-

{sneak attacks Eekster on the head with a giant Kinder Surprise} Hush, go back to sleep.

What's that? Well, since you ask, Kinder Surprises Surprise on a roll of 4-6 on a D6, providing the party consists solely of Kinder Surprises and Cadbury's Creme Eggs. No, no - don't mention it. Always happy to help.

Yes I stopped doing reviews for a variety of reasons. I am still on from time to time. The truth is the deal with Clark kinda bugged me, not to mention the guy writing the story contacted me here a few times and posted in threads I did. Trying to get me to comment and it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth for posting.

That "reporter" sounds like a real douchebag. Sorry you went through that. :(

Well wish i could say it is over, but the very last time I posted on Paizo about 2 weeks ago he posted in the same thread I did again asking about Clark.

Which is a big reason I don't post much anymore.

Can we contact his boss at the newspaper/TV station/where ever and tell him to stop harassing you?

1.) Uh...Clark? Kinder Surprises?

2.)*Gulp* Oh, my. That means Cadbury caramel eggs are in season. *Drools* Must. Go. Egg hunting.

3.) Alas, reporters are not yummy. In fact, the last time I tried one, I was nauseous for days.

Well he doesn't do it enough that I think anyone would legally call harassing. He does it just enough to make me not want to post. Cause every time he posts in the same thread as me or sends me a PM it pretty much kills my mood. Which has just made me not want to post.

I honestly thought if I just ignored him he would eventually stop, but apparently not. Not to mention the whole thing going on with Clark and part of it is from our back and forth between our forum alter ego's has kinda put a damper on things for me. If that makes sense.

Clark Peterson, former owner of Necromancer games, than later launched Legendary games with some others. Was a superstar judge etc, posted here as Clark Peterson or Orcus the mascot for Necromancer games.. In RL he is a Judge and this reporter is doing stories about him in a negative manner and using some of the Banter between Clark and I from these forums in his stories.

The fact someone is using some harmless fun to try and ruin someone I consider a friends career just sours the whole experience.

Can you talk to Paizo staff at all? They seem to be pretty good usually about fostering a positive atmosphere on their boards and if this is truly ruining your time on them perhaps they can help.

Also, I'm not trying to convince you to post or review again if you honestly don't want to, but I will admit that if you or End give a product a good review or especially if you both do, I will likely get said book. I am sure others feel the same and rely on and enjoy your work.

Anyways, I am truly sorry this is happening to you, despite not really knowing you or the situation. But, you are a well liked, perhaps even well loved member of this community and that's all that really matters.

Regardless of where you go from here, I wish you luck and thanks for your awesome reviews. Hopefully you can one day return, but I and I am sure others will understand if you don't.

I thought about it but, honestly I think if Paizo would get involved it could just make things worse for Clark. Letting him claim something like a cover up or something like that.

Eventually the story will resolve it's self and eventually he will move onto another story. That much I am sure of. I am just surprised there for 2 months from the middle of Dec to the middle of Feb it was still happening which is why I have not posted until now. Kinda a test to see if he PM's me or posts in this thread.

But a big part of it, is honestly knowing posts I made in fun as my alter ego here on the forum is being used against Clark has taken the fun out of it.

That's a lot, lot more than harassment. If it's an attempt at defamation and is keeping you from pursuing your occupation and/or normal activities, I'd contact this person's superior (if there is one) and officially register an objection. Which news outlet does this person work for?

Dark Archive

Well the story is about Clark and him being a judge. I won't get into the details as I don't feel it is my place. Honestly i consider it one of those sleezy character assassination pieces. Banter posts between Clark and I are just being used, mine are not the only ones. He contacted me or made posts in threads I posted in like 4-5 times in 8 week spawn.

What he is doing is not effecting me persay beyond it makes me feel bad and depressed posts I made are being used against Clark. So I don't want to give him more ammo so to speak, that and as i said a big part of it. Is knowing how this is effecting Clark in RL has taken all the fun out of me being my alter ego and posting just for fun.

Which is why you will notice over the past couple of months most of my posts are about orders or commenting on upcoming products.

As far as the news outlet, I honestly don't recall off hand. It is a Washington local paper where Clark is a judge. At this point I am hoping he has stopped, it has been a month and so far nothing more. But then I have not posted since then but he has not sent me a PM either, so I am hoping for me at least it is over.

I am so making you cookies. I have a gigantic choclate heart I got from valentines day and never ate, you want that? I have other stuff. Mostly random goodies

I'm sorry to hear, dark mistress. I second contacting this guy's boss and letting him know what he is doing is not okay.

That guy is still harassing Clark? Wow, talk about a stalker syndrome extraordinaire.
It's many months since he wrote the first ridiculous piece and he's still pursuing it?
Methinks someone needs to talk to a mental health care professional.
Sorry to hear that this guy's crusade to take down Clark is affecting you too DM. :-/

Ugh. I read that article. It depends on the ignorance of non-gamers to portray him in a negative light. It's the worst kind of journalism, if it even qualifies as such.

Agreed. The article in question was one of the worst pieces of "reporting" that I have ever seen. I was half expecting to see the D&D Chick Tract on the page as well.

And DM, if this reporter is stalking you on the boards (and honestly, if he is posting solely in response to your posts and sending you PMs, then a case could be made for online stalking), file a complaint with his superiors and threaten legal action against both the "reporter" and his employer if the behavior does not stop.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Like I said guys if he had done it more than he has, but once ever 2 weeks are so I don't think anyone is going to call stalking or harassment. Plus all of his posts and PM's have all been asking me about my "relationship" with Clark.

I did check into the laws and so far i don't think anyone would call it as more than anything other than overzealous "journalism", least not legally call it anything else. Any paper that would print his story i think is not going to care about complaints unless he actual breaks the law.

Plus I honestly think that is part of his goal to get a reaction so he can call it a over reaction to feed his story. Which is why i have choose to ignore it and him, by waiting it out.

Also I don't know if it is still going on, it started in mid Dec when he "broke the story" and the last contact was mid Feb, Which just so happened was the last time I posted here until last night.

Thanks for the support and concern guys, but I think the best thing I can do for Clark is just wait and not give the guy more things to fan the flames with.

Honestly, I think Dark Mistress is doing the right thing.

I'm afraid libel laws in the U.S. are nothing like they are in the U.K. You (the harassed plaintiff) basically have to prove three things:
(1) The statements are demonstrably false.
(2) The statements damage you in some tangible way.
(3) (Usually, but not always) The statements were made with intent to cause this harm/damage.

Ignoring the annoying reporter and not doing anything to feed the flames is the best way to get rid of him.

Also, Clark is a judge; he'll be far more aware of the law than we are, and will certainly bring down the hammer on the reporter if the reporter publishes anything that is actionable.

I think it's (unfortunately) yellow journalism at its sleaziest, and Dark Mistress is weathering the storm.

Hang on, Dark Mistress! We're all rooting for you!

Removed a few posts. Advocating real physical harm to a person is not OK on our messageboards.

Additionally, if anyone is experiencing harassment from another person through our messageboards or the private messaging system, please email webmaster@paizo.com. This is not acceptable.

Sovereign Court

Fair enough, DM, you make a valid point re: possible motivations on their part. If they do step over the line though, and I would recommend knowing exactly where the legal line is drawn, do take action instead of ignoring it.

Additionally,

Spoiler:
If the individual in question is the one I think it is, I'm pretty sure they were one of the folks who took umbrage with the ruling and is not the "article's" author. At least that was the impression I got from the posts they made here (before they were removed due to forum guideline violations) and in the comments section for the piece of tripe reporting. Not sure if that would make a difference or not, but if I am correct, they would not be able to utilize any twisted interpretation of Freedom of the Press to hide behind. Just 2cp.

As a full-time lurker I offer my sympathy and regret for the situation . I hope to read more from you soon, and that such posts are filled with the same enthusiasm found in posts before this all happened.

You are missed and clearly loved here. This community wouldn't be the same without you.

It is unfortunate that we have to deal with such people, and that they suck so much energy from our lives. Hopefully seeing you have friends here will help you regain what is lost.

There was an article a few months back in a Washington state local newspaper that questioned the professionalism of Clark Peterson as a judge because he spent his break times and personal time developing role-playing games, starting a RPG Company, and conversing in a relaxed manner with us. The only people complaining about this behaviour in the article were some people who had a grudge against him for ruling against them. Total hack piece. If you want to look it up, I'm sure you can find it, but I won't link to it.

In fact all links to it in the messageboards were removed I believe, so don't anyone bother to try and link it. It isn't worth the effort. DM has it right I believe: ignore the "reporter" and this story will die.

What bothers me is that this is the reason we haven't heard from either DM or Clark much the last few months. Destroying the fun of a person's legal and harmless pastime for what? This is just sad.

Thanks for the heads-up Feros.

That a judge is challenged on his professionalism because he spends his free time developing games that will benefit generations of gamers is a hack-job.

Do not wither DM. More power to you...

Hang in there DM. And please don't let this bottom feeder take something you enjoy away from you. Hoping to see you back, but like folks said upthread, on your own time and terms when you're ready.

But if this guy harrasses you again, please do contact Paizo about it.

Well like I said guys eventually the issue with Clark will be resolved, so then the reporter will have no reason to contact me.

On the bright side he has still not contacted me again since mid Feb so maybe he took the hint and finally dropped it.

Doubtful, even if he was legally in the right, it would still stink of censorship, and probably be suicide, politically speaking. As others have said, ignoring the guy and hoping he gets bored of the non-story and goes away would be the best way to deal with the situation.

The whole situation is was bad enough and silly in my opinion. That it's negatively effecting DM makes me a little sad and grumpy.

I’ve read this whole topic, and the ‘story’ by the fellow in question. Frankly, I’d be tempted to say ‘you’ve got to be ******* kidding me!’ — but then I remember I’m on the Internet, where idiocy and poison are given free rein not only to abound but to flourish. >:(
