+1 to a reach build- it does increase your action economy because it lets you use your standard action to cast or channel and then you also get to attack thanks to generating attacks of opportunity.
the animal domain also helps- at 4th you gain an animal companion... without access to Boon Companion it will never be as effective/durable as a druid's but it does get its own whole turn worth of actions on top of your normal round worth of actions.
a cohort- leadership is the single most powerful feat in the game (and its core); if your GM allows it, take the feat or the nobility domain... at 7th level (with decent Cha) you get a whole second 5th level character with his/her whole own turn (and you can push it even farther by having your cohort be a druid or a class with a familiar for a 3rd round worth of actions)

As they said above, check out the Reach Cleric build. Here's an example of typical low level combat actions for a low level Reach Cleric. The above example shows how to increase action efficiency with this approach.
The guide is Sticky at the top of this Advice forum, in Guide to the Class Guides.

There's Quick Channel, which lets you channel as a move action. It's great for the moment of truth when it's all going to heck and it's up to you save things.

take leadership...
you want to speed up spells/channels? have your cohort be a lower level member of your order (another cleric, or a life oracle or inquisitor if you add advanced players guide at any point)- have him/her cast a cure spell or channel (free for you), and you still have your turn to do whatever you want.
