For those who dont know Sniper shot is:

Benefit: As a full-round action, you may make an attack that allows you to deal precision-based extra damage to a distance equal to your weapon’s range increment. You may only make this attack with bows and crossbows. Precision-based damage includes sneak attacks, a ranger’s favored weapon bonus, and the damage bonus from the Focused Shot feat. Creatures immune to critical hits and sneak attacks are immune to this extra damage.

Now, with the way the feat. it says i do the additional damage including sneak attack, and with sneak attack, i have to deny their dex bonus to hit them with the damage, that or flank (which with bows, is a no)

so can I still do the sneak attack damage with this feat with a bow, without having to deny their dex bonus?

The feat is very vaguely worded, but it looks like the intent is to remove the requirement that your target be within 30' and not to grant free sneak attacks.

I think it should be FAQ'd though. since its so vaguely worded, it seems like it can say

hey, you can do an extra 10d6 on your ranged attack.

or

hey, you COULD do an extra 10d6 damage at your max ranged penalty without being hampered by the range of the damage.

For just a feat?

I think that right there is enough for me to know the intent lol

It's a 3.5 feat. Might as well ask what a ranger's favored weapon bonus is supposed to be. Favored Enemy was precision damage in 3.0, but that was changed in 3.5. So, even in 3.5 this feat was badly worded.

Sorry to necro a thread, but I figured there's no point in opening another when there's already one here.

I was reading Sniper Shot and it says as the OP said. As a full round action you can make an attack that deals precision damage up to your weapon's range increment.

At first I thought, "oh, all this feat does is increase the range at which you can make sneak attacks."

Upon closer reading I realized a couple of things.

It takes a full-round action, so I don't think you can perform the "snipe" thing from the stealth skill. (move action)

At the end of the ability it says, "Creatures immune to critical hits and sneak attacks are immune to this extra damage." Which, seems to imply that "this extra damage" is a different type of extra damage than you'd normally use.

It's not a Pathfinder feat, so this is the wrong forum.

Oh, sorry, I was looking at the PFSRD and it said the feat came from this book.

Do I need to try and let them know that they got the wrong source?

If so, how would I go about doing that?

Sczarni

It is a Paizo product, but its rules set is 3.5.

It came out before the PFRPG rules set.

Oh, okay. I just saw that it was 2008 (which I when I thought the PFRPG came out) and that it's got "Pathfinder" in the title of the book.

Which forum should I switch this to then?

Sczarni

There's a rules forum for compatible products. I'd imagine there would work. Just flag the OP for "Thread in wrong forum" and someone will move it eventually.

I'll do it now.

I'll go ahead and do so as well.

Approximately how long does it take?

Will it get featured in the "most recent" posts, or will I have to go digging for it after it gets moved?
