The evolution of the Imperial Stormtrooper.
On the left bottom corner of the Ralph McQuarrie sketch, you will note the inclusion of an early conceptual art stage for Chewbacca, that art is the basis for a new character's race, of which "Zeb' belongs to.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- The Lost Missions new trailer
Glimpses of Shaak-Ti, but not of my other favourite Togruta...
They better have something in store for her otherwise I'm going to scream. Unfortunately, I bet it's what they'll have in store for her that will make me want to scream...
Nevertheless, this image (assuming it's legit) kept me hopeful from the moment I've seen it...

I'm REALLY hoping they don't kill her off. The Nightsisters are one of my favorite things about SW:TCW. Of course, if you've heard any of the commentary on the Dathomir/Maul episodes, it brings into contention the whole question of whether or not she is alive to begin with.

I see we...disagree, jemstone.
Nah, not really so much.
I'm just of the opinion that the story of Star Wars is a lot better with Palpatine/Vader and Yoda/Kenobi as the last of their kind. The "Balance" to the Force, as it were. I think the original story from Ep 4, with Ben as the last of the Jedi who passes the legacy to Luke, works just fine. I've never seen a reason to circumvent it by having all these secret Jedi running around. If they were there the whole time, why did Yoda or Ben - arguably the most powerful of the Jedi order - ever talk about them? Why was Luke the last hope? If there were these other more experienced Jedi were out there, why didn't Ben or Yoda look for them?
I think the Secret Jedi stuff is fun and makes for good stories, but I don't think it should continue after the point at which ANH begins. That's all.
The froth was just for show. ;)

A secret Jedi isn't a bad idea. Neither is the post RotJ idea of one of Luke's apprentices falling to the dark side. The problem is when every author refuses to do anything other than that same story, and we end up with half the Jedi being missed in the purge, or nearly every single person Luke trains becoming a Sith later, and other such expanded universe nonsense. There were great things in the expanded universe, but a lot of stupid stuff made it in too.

You're going to have to cite some sources here. I followed EU for quite some time, and a lot of this sounds like hogwash and exaggeration to me.

I agree. I enjoy the Jedi mythos, but between the EU, video games, etc, there's nothing special about them anymore. You can't step off the spaceport without running into 15 Jedi these days.
It's like my SWSE group; we have one player, totally cool guy, very close friend of mine, who absolutely, positively, MUST play a Jedi in some manner in every game. Doesn't matter what era, he has to be a Jedi. I mentioned that I wanted to run a Rebellion era, military-focused Rebels vs. Imperials war campaign, and he still insisted on playing a Jedi. I hate telling someone else what to play, but holy crap, try something new whydontcha?
I've played a Jedi exactly twice, in my entire SWRPG career. Give me a gun-customizing pilot/mechanic any day.
Aranna |
I have never played a Jedi either (with the exception of my Jedi and Sith NPCs). I did however convert one of my force using NPCs into a PC for use in a couple online games. She wasn't really a Jedi though... more of a Rim Sorceress.
Still I don't worry so much about violating that "last Jedi" bit after all Vader and his children have a very strong bond with the force it would only be logical to seek out Luke or Leia to train them as Jedi.

Switch systems up and play Edge of Empire. Some force sensitives, but no jedi options there.

I DM'd a d6 game for two years, and by the end, the two force users had grown powerful enough that I was forced to send Darth Vader after them (among other things), which they of course had to run from. The thing about those Force Points is that they got pretty ridiculous once your dice pools got above 6. I miss that system..

loved force points. They worked very well within the system. You wanted to go crazy, you could go crazy. So could the other guy, though.

any chance Kenobi or Yoda will guest star in Rebels?
This image, as legit as a random picture found on the web can be, makes me believe that Obi-Wan will. As for Yoda, I can't be sure. It looks like he will have a big-ish role in season 6 of Clone Wars, so perhaps not, but Star Wars franchises usually don't miss on the chance of showing cameos and liking everyone's life to the same few characters,; so your guess is as good as any.
Freehold DM |
anyone else disapointed with season 6. I wanted more answers. There were some good episodes and i have slim hopes we get any answered in rebels as i havent seen anything on returning characters from clone wars.
I liked it, but it did result in more questions than answers. IIRC, LucasArts staff said they weren't going to answer some questions in clone wars to keep some mystery alive.
Freehold DM |
Its funny its a kids show that many kids will probably find out accidentally on Net flix. Probably the mystery is a cheap ploy for a possible book series that really only young adults/adults will search for even then only die hard fans at best?
The answer is probably a bit more banal than that. I know what Jedi looked like and were, as well as Sith, varied greatly in the d6/West end days as opposed to today. There were a lot of mythologies and some of them were fan based and some were official. They probably kept things open and weird in order to avoid contradictions.

I agree with the RIP spoiler, oTOH, it means Order 66 makes more sense. I'm sad that some EU characters were never seen/mentioned.

Say, this looks like the right place to ask.
Is "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" any good? 'cause I started watching it after hearing that REBELS was announced, and so far (first 4 episodes) it's been childish and frantic, the animation is rather annoying, and voice acting nothing spectacular. If that is my opinion so far, is there a reason for me to watch any further?
No. It is not good. It is great. Go and watch it. Netflix has both the movie and the series.

Thanks. I own the CW movie and the first three seasons. I will pick up seasons 4 - 6 of CW sooner or later.

Yeah, since posting that Iv'e blazed my way through season 1 and am currently in the middle of season 2. Gotta say, season 2 is about twice as good, as the frantic pace slowed down a bit, actual character development happened, and story arcs became longer than 20 minutes each. The Geonosis(is that how you spell the name with the winged bug aliens?) story arc was my favorite so far.
