Elves and the Sleepy Drawback

Rules Questions

Ok so I was picking a drawback for a half elf magus I wanted to play and I came across a weird loop hole.

The half elf Elven Immunity states:
Elven Immunities: Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

And the Sleepy drawback states:
Effect: You take a –2 penalty on saving throws against sleep effects.

Does that mean if I take this drawback I would be technically getting a trait for free, having my elven immunities counteract the penalty? Or am I not allowed to do this?

Well, I suppose in the PFS sense it's legal (if drawbacks were PFS legal) but that's so cheesy I'd really expect any sane GM to push back.

Agreed with Chris Kenney
I don't know the rules for drawbacks but if its allowed its only because you found a loophole...I hope as a role player you will not do it and shame yourself :(

Scarab Sages

If it were my game, I'd let you take it, and it would just indicate you had more human blood than elf in your bloodline. You are still a half elf, but you did loose your immunity to sleep. I hope the extra trait was worth it.

You are also ignoring this part:

You must sleep or rest for at least 12 hours each night to get the benefits of a full night's rest.

Even though this is technically "flavor text" I would definitely enfore it for your character.

Also the -2 would still apply to nonmagical sleep effects (example: sleep poison) as your immunity does nothing there.

What Ryric said.
