I just had a post about a ranger that can change into a bear, and had some nice responses :-) I inspired one of my friends to also create a character which can change into an animal, this time the creature of choice is a tiger...
The idea is a rogue or similar character which can shape into a tiger for stealth/combat/sneaking. Also a focus on swords and traps (so rogue sounds right.. or trapper ranger).
Solutions for the bear/ranger were 3.5 classes, use a wish, natural lycanthrope, the spell less ranger archtype from kobold press.. but if possible we prefer characters between the lines of the RAW... with some freedom to swap out things... but only if balanced...
We were thinking about losing the spells and animal companion of the ranger and gain wild shape like the druid with the restriction of only cat like shapes. Or would this be overpowered?
What a rogue should drop in exchange of wildshape we were not sure...
I'm curious about what you guys think and suggest :-)

Posted this in the bear thread the Op referrenced, but I figure it's relevent here as well :)
Folks looking for this kind of animal shape-shifting character should definitely check out the Skin-Changer in the New Paths Compendium from Kobold Press.
The Skin-Changer is an alternate spell-less ranger and I think it might be exactly what you are looking for ;)
