GM Credit Query

Scarab Sages 5/5

I am scheduled to GM Broken Chains a module in PFS for levels 5-7 and I am going to assign the credit to a character that is current 4th.

Does the credit get automatically assigned to the character when I hit 5th with that character or can I delay applying to the character until he is 6th so I can play some 1-5 games with him.

I also have some 7-11 credit on him - does that also automatically assign at level 7?

TIA

It happens as soon as he hits 5. The high level stuff happens as soon as he hits the appropriate level.

And if you manage to earn Chronicles that start at a certain level that combined would advance your PC more than one level, you apply the Chronicles in the order they were earned and level your PC accordingly.

If you GM a lot and put the credit on the same PC before they can use it, your PC can jump several levels all at once.

I don't believe you can apply a Chronicle if the PC will be beyond the highest level of the Chronicle when it is added to the PC's Chronicle stack. So you should keep track of how much your PC will advance so you don't waste any Chronicles by attaching them to a PC that will be to high in levels to eventually be able to use them.

Good point. If you weren't paying attention and managed to stack four 5-7 chronicles on the same character, you'd be out of luck on the last one once the character hits 5 (and jumps right to 8).

I recommend a tracking spreadsheet.

All the above is correct, but I wanted to point out that this is the case for GM Credit. For Pregen Credit, you apply at the level of the Pregenerated character.

In the strange case that you actually level out of chronicle, you could take the last level at half-speed if you wanted.

Oh, and for both, you can reduce the awards and apply to a level 1.

As far as I can tell from reading the guide, you can't reduce the level of a GM credit chronicle.

Hmm.. interesting. Page 29 isn't particularly explicit either way ("A GM who runs a module may likewise apply the Chronicle sheet..."). Very good point Jeff.

It has been asked a few times and general consensus is that you can only do that with Pregen credit. I've never seen anything to indicate that it could be done with GM credit.
