Your favorite three feats?

Advice

I'm tinkering around with a shield fighter [Ftr(Brawler)/Mnk(MoMS)] and I have three feat slots left. I have the shield feats I wanted and was looking for a neat combo. I was thinking Power Attack/Imp Bull Rush/Greater Bull Rush to provoke AoOs or Point Blank/Precise Shot/Deadly Aim for some switch hitting capability but both seem kind of meh to me. So I was wondering what crazy/unusual/fun combo you could do with three feats. Will probably have low Charisma so no Eldritch Heritage, most likely human but open to suggestions, main stats will be Str/Dex/Wis...

Whatcha got?

Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

FEY FOUNDLING
(Must be taken at first level - adds 2 healing per die of healing received)
This makes a 5d6 channel (which normally averages 17.5 HP) instead averages 27.5 HP. It really adds up. If you have an Aasimar Life Oracle using their Favored class bonus for improving their Channel revelation you can get consistently healed more than a Fireball can inflict - even if you fail the save vs Fireball.

IMPROVED/GREATER DRAG
As for maneuvers if you want something interesting look at Improved Drag. Instead of pushing enemies back you grab them by the scruff of the neck and bring them over to your rogue-friend. The enemy then have to break through your lines to be reunited.

Its good for getting an enemy away from a healer or for dragging enemies into the middle of the party so an enemy Fireball will endanger an enemy.

RIPTIDE ATTACK
As a Swift Action after tripping an opponent you can then Drag them. Since Greater Trip gives you a free attack you can Trip, then Disarm (at +4 since they are Prone) then drag them away from where their weapon is laying. With Greater versions of the maneuvers allies get up to 2 AOO's for your investment of one attack.

Bewildering Koan, for EPIC TROLLING.

Anyway, for your character... I assume you already have Shield Slam? How about Spiked Destroyer (swift action attack after a bull rush), Vicious Stomp (AoO against adjacent target falling prone).

Do you have the full description for Spiked Destroyer? If Shield Slam is a prerequisite, is that attack, free bull rush, swift attack?

Diehard Endurance Survivor. Only fun at first level really, but then its hella fun

i myself really enjoy the trip and drag trees, drag is particularly fun. bullrush would be a little cliche for a shield fighter impo, would be much more fun to drop your longsword to the end of its weapon cord and grab someone by the throat with a spiked gauntlet.

Three favorite? Power Attack, Craft Wondrous Item, and Leadership.

Eldritch heritage, improved eldritch heritage, greater eldritch heritage. Seriously, the last 4 or 5 characters I've created have used these. Although they use a fair few feats, they give good abilities to cover weaknesses or strengthen already strong points. Give a barbarian orc bloodline tree and enjoy 6 extra strength and the ability to grow large and get an extra 6 from growing large.

Yeah I'm fond of Eldritch Hertiage myself, I just don't see this guy having a 17 Cha. I like the drag feats mentioned earlier but it is similiar to my Ki Throw Manuever Master I've played before.

Nature Soul -- Animal Ally are my two favorite feats for classes that do not get animal companions.

Grand Lodge

Fast-Learner, Improvisation, and Improved Improvisation.

This feat chain, available to humans, half-elves, and half-orcs, is absolutely awesome in my E6 game.

Lantern Lodge

Improved Overrun, Charge Through, Trample.

Why hit the first enemy? Stomp its face while you hit the second enemy instead!

Ki throw, Improved Ki Throw, and Spinning Throw. Because wrestlers.

Scarab Sages

Whip Mastery, Improved Whip Mastery, Greater Whip Mastery. Because Indiana Jones.

depends on what you want to do...
- nature soul->animal ally->boon companion gets you a full progression animal companion (from a limited list)
- leadership is the single most potent feat in the game.
- racial heritage[whatever crazy thing you want]+2 crazy racial feats is fun (could go kobold for breath weapon/flight, or Grippli for tongue, lol)
- additional traits (make X a class skill with +1)->skill focus in X->feat that gives smaller bonus to X and another skill

just to name a few...

Boon Companion only works if you have the Animal Companion or Familiar class feature. If you're taking Animal Ally then you can't have the Animal Companion or Mount class features in the first place.

Sorry.

Quick Draw, Combat Reflexe, Power attack :

Start initiative / Draw a polearm / ready an attack (followed by a quickdraw combo) / get an attack of opportunity against the ennemy / attack the ennemy with your readied attack / drop the polearm / quickdraw a shield and sword.

Best level 1 fighter combo ever imo.

clearly this is an issue of table variance (and i don't know what the PFS ruling on it is) but RAI it should work (when boon companion was released there weren't options for getting a companion besides a class feature)... especially since RAW the only classes that could use this feat are the sylvan wildblooded sorcerer and (arguably) a witch- sylvan sorcs are the only class has the "animal companion" class feature (others have "nature bond" or "hunter's bond" or whatever), and no class has the "familiar" class feature, but i think you'd probably have to concede that "witch's familiar" should count (other classes have "arcane bond" and the like).

with table variance, it obviously won't work in every group but if animal ally is a direction you want to head its worth talking to your GM about.

Sovereign Court

Intimidating Prowess/Power Attack/Cornugon Smash

Going two-handed means you really only need Power Attack as a combat feat. I love Intimidating Prowess as a way to get mileage out of sky-high Strength in non-combat situations, and combined with Cornugon Smash your melee types can hand out debuffs like candy. Shaken is -2 on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, and the DC to demoralize most enemies is pitifully low.

Hm, I never noticed that bit of wording. This is interesting. Thanks for that.

Sorry if I seemed like I was trying to spoil your fun or anything. At first glance it looked pretty obvious that it shouldn't be used that way, now the whole feat shouldn't really be used by anyone. :P

Yeah, when a feat says "animal companion class feature" they really mean "class feature that grants you an animal companion."

Jury's still out on whether a feat granting you a class feature counts as granting you a class feature or not - but I say it does.

Iron will, Improved Iron Will, Steel Soul (if you happen to be a dwarf)

I HATE missing will saves.

Everything above sounds great. However, if you are happy with your fighting, I would like to throw in Additional Traits (Dangerously Curious & Helen Something), Skill Focus (UMD)and Magical Aptitude).

A smart player can make his fighter quite versatile with first, second and on rare ocassion third/fourth level wands.
