Why no summon genie in PFS?

I've been waiting and waiting to build a genie summoner. But... Just read that the Summon Genie spells from Legacy of Pharaohs are not legal for play in PFS.

Why not?

It's one of those things we want to reserve for either a Chronicle sheet for a scenario to make the chronicle more interesting, or for a convention/GM boon as part of prize support.

Makes sense!

As a thought, the Additional Resources document might list them as "reserved" rather than lumping them in with game bits that are not legal.

That's a good idea. Might prevent this question from coming up every time.

(Not picking on the OP; it's just that the things that get reserved tend to be some of the more desired, since those are the ones special enough to be worth reserving.)

Ah, my soul rejoices! At least there's a chance then.

This is an excellent idea. I know some local people who were disappointed that some of the spells, etc from book like Demon Hunter's Handbook were not legal only to have them show up on chronicle sheets a few months later. This would be a good way to calm people down when a new book comes out and someone is upset because their new favorite spell/item/archetype/etc is not legal.

(I also had the same question as to why the Summon Genie spells were not legal so it's good to hear that they may appear later on.)

Have the Summon Genie spells appeared anywhere on Chronicles, yet? It has been five years.

it's rough on the players and GM when you have to put on blue body paint then rip off your shirt and roleplay Robin Williams at the table. *-<8^0 “The ever impressive, the long contained, often imitated, but never duplicated … Genie of the lamp!”

i know you can if you worship a certain deity.

The new version of genie binder is pretty good and has the Genie Summoner ability to summon djinni (summon monster V), efreeti or shaitan (summon monster VI), or marid (summon monster VII).

Yeah, I took a look at that. Seems cool, but the prerequisite is the ability to cast Summon Monster VI. That's Summoner 11. So, I could take Genie Binder at Summoner 11/Genie Binder 1. I'd get Summon Genie at Summoner 11/Genie Binder 2. That's 13th level, at which point I would be leveled-out of Pathfinder Society. :(

Well, you'd be 'seeker' level and there are some opportunities to continue on within PFS.
