Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheath

Rules Questions

I read that these can hold a wand, dagger, or even bolts. My questions are:
1. Can it hold scrolls?
2. If so, how many? I'm asking since they're made of vellum and maybe fit more inside?

I'm just trying to see how much gear I can have my character carry and use without inadvertently cheating the GM.

It's a gray area, but not at my table, no.

1. My answer is yes. But last time this was brought up it devolved into four pages of people nitpicking what kind of action unrolling a scroll is. The consensus was table variation, so proceed with caution and the knowledge that some DMs will get huffy about you trying it.

2. One scroll. I guess it could be a scroll of multiple spells though.

Honestly, unless you are a cleric who can potentially use breath of life it is better to avoid the b&!!@!$+ that you will probably get over this.

I only allow what the description says it can hold.

Well, actually, it is a cleric. So, can the sheath only hold one scroll at a time? I'm only asking since it said it can hold up to five bolts or arrows.

It shoots webs, too!

As noted above, it will depend on the GM, but I would say few to none are likely to rule that it can hold more than one scroll. Some will rule zero, and some will rule one, and some will be more likely to rule one if that scroll happens to be a scroll of Breath of Life.

I have a scroll of Breath of Life in a spring-loaded wrist sheath on my Sorcerer, and this thread reminded me to post about the only time I've used it in the Waking Rune thread. Should I ever have to use the replacement I bought, instead of buying another scroll, I'm going to purchase the First Aid Gloves out of the Pathfinder Society Primer. They are more expensive, but I don't have anything in the glove slot, and they offer a variety of options, which include up to two possible Breath of Lifes. The biggest advantage they have is that they don't need to be retrieved, so there's no need for a spring-loaded wrist sheath and the table variation that goes with that. I was really, really glad to see something added to the game that makes Breath of Life easier to pull off. Even at 2,250 gp per Breath of Life, you're still saving 5,000 gold over a Raise Dead, not to mention having the dead character back for the rest of the encounter/scenario, which could save a TPK.

also take a look at a greater casters shield for your breath of life scroll.

IMO a much neater solution for this use then the spring loaded wrist sheath.

Id think First Aid Gloves might be the Deus Ex Machina to end the scroll of breath of life debate.

Also, remember that activating a spring-loaded wrist sheath provokes attacks of opportunity. (That's also the subject of a long, contentious thread; but the rules seem clear to me.)

Expect table variation on that point, too. :)

Generally speaking, if you are planning on using these devices, the best thing you can do is to talk to your GM about them before the start of the scenario.

Which you are supposed to do, anyways, with any Additional Materials if you are playing PFS, right?

Those first aid gloves look great, even more so for a non Devine caster. I am kind of tired of all the micro transactions it costs to use so many items from across so many products but I might just pick up that product just for that item alone. It is not banned in society play yet right? Maybe I should wait a while longer to make sure.

Sczarni

It's from the Society Primer. I doubt it'll be banned anytime soon.
