Does using the Foe Biting legendary item property on a spell, such as Shocking Grasp, delivered via a magus' spellstrike double the spell damage as well as the weapon damage?

Spell Strike:
At 2nd level, whenever a magus casts a spell with a range of “touch” from the magus spell list, he can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding as part of a melee attack. Instead of the free melee touch attack normally allowed to deliver the spell, a magus can make one free melee attack with his weapon (at his highest base attack bonus) as part of casting this spell. If successful, this melee attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the spell. If the magus makes this attack in concert with spell combat, this melee attack takes all the penalties accrued by spell combat melee attacks. This attack uses the weapon’s critical range (20, 19–20, or 18–20 and modified by the keen weapon property or similar effects), but the spell effect only deals ×2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the weapon damage uses its own critical modifier.

Foe-Biting:
When this item deals damage, its user can use mythic power to double the total amount of damage it deals. If the attack is a normal attack, the bearer can expend one use of legendary power to double the total amount of damage. If the attack is a confirmed critical hit, the bearer must instead expend two uses of legendary power to double the total damage. Damage from weapon special abilities (such as flaming) and precision-based damage are also doubled. This ability can be applied only to weapons. An item must be a minor or major artifact to have this ability.

Considering that it mentions the total amount of damage and refers to effects outside of what the weapon can do (precision-based damage) that is included in its doubling, it's safe to say that the damage caused from the spell would also double.

I pity tha foe.

No while spellatrike delivers the shocking ggrasp through the weapon the damage from the shocking graso is its own damage and not q peoduct of the weapon.

I don't really think that's the case.

If that's the case, things like Power Attack and Weapon of Awe, or even the Shocking property, would not get multiplied when used. Except these damage sources outside from the weapon do get multiplied, since they are listed in what can and can't be applicable.

I also reiterate the fact that the ability calls out for "Total Damage" from the attack in question. Are you saying that Spell Strike (which applies a spell as part of an attack being made with a weapon) does not constitute as being any sort of damage being caused from that attack?

It can be either way. But considering the resourses you put in to it i would let double the Spell damage . This is mythic after all.

Based on the arguments i've seen so far, it could argued on both interpretations...but since the feat indicates: "This ability can be applied only to weapons.", I would think that the shocking grasp would not be doubled....

The feat doubles the damage that the weapon does. Damage from weapon special abilities (such as flaming) and precision-based damage are linked to your weapon.

spellstrikes is only a means to deliver your spell through your weapon. When you strike with spellstrike you do weapon damage and spell damge. It's just that the spell now use the weapon critical threath range. So I think everything associated with the weapon would be doubled, but not the spell....

The "This ability can be applied only to weapons" line is referring to the fact that only Legendary Weapons can have that property applied to it, and that it can't be put on Legendary Armor, Shields, or Wondrous Items. The same way that a Deathless Magical Property can't be applied to weapons or shields.

The weapon ability only refers to the weapon's own damage. Damage being delivered by spellstrike isn't part of the weapon's damage, it's just traveling along for the ride.

Well, it's good to know I can't read:

With that said, I concede and retract my previous statements.

The damage multiplication only applies to damage that the weapon deals and any property/precision-based damage that comes with it.
