Playtest Shaman in PFS, need a bit of help.

Advice

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I had a few questions.

First off my shaman's level 2, he's a life shaman. I liked the flavor and how the class worked as an alernative to a cleric.

Unfortunately however I've never played a Witch or an Oricle. I've read through the optimization guides for a basic understanding of the feats, but I am not sure if the feats only apply to a witches hex (for example).

Off the cuff, does anyone have a few feats that would be useful for a PFS/low level shaman? Selective channel comes to mind.. but I'm fuzzy on other useful things.

Also, are there any feats that could be useful for the sprit companion? So far he's an anthropomorphic turtle with a cane that wonders about the battlefield that eventually will deliver touch spells (heals) for me. Could he do other useful things?

Thanks for any help you can provide!
Justin

So what would you like to, or what are you trying to do with your shaman? Are you going around smashing faces, or are you trying to heal and support your team, or are you trying to debuff the enemy until they're so weak the party's wizard could beat them with a cane safely. Goes a long way to talk about what you want and what you have.

Look at some druid threads and guides for help with spell selection; I know from experience that the list is a bit difficult to wrap your head around. There are some great spells that are often overlooked (warp wood is sooo strong).

Feat wise, anything you'd normally take as a caster is likely wise (Combat Casting, Improved Initiative, Spell Focus, Toughness, etc). Take a look at dipping into Lore for your wandering spirit, it will help maximize your Wisdom potential. Skill Focus (Perception) can also help you capitalize on your primary stat, especially with your free Alertness feat.

MrSin I was looking to play him as a healer/support role. I'd likely never get in combat if I could help it.

Related question - anyone know/think that Shaman will have a retraining synergy with Druid? I only know it definitely does with Oracle and Witch, but Druid seems like a no brainer to me with the druid spell list.

As currently ruled, it does not.

As currently ruled where?

In the additional resources, the only listing of synergy with the hybrid classes, is the classes which comprise them.
