Dwarf / Duergar Cleric's Travel Domain and Base Speed

A cleric that chooses the Travel domain receives an increase to base speed by 10 feet. It does not mention this is an enhancement, supernatural ability, or anything else, therefore it just changes it.

The travel domain isn't armour or encumbrance, so it applies. Your duergar now has a 30 ft. base speed that still can't be reduced by armour or encumbrance.


I would say it would not affect the Travel speed. It says that their speed is never modified by armor or encumbrance.


Yes. The travel domain is the more specific rule so it supercedes the Dwarf Slow and Steady racial. By having a Dwarf Cleric with the Travel domain you have a Dwarf with a 30ft movement speed that is not slowed by armor or encumbrance.

You have the answer in your own post: the racial trait effect is only affected by armour or encumbrance modifying the speed.

The travel domain speed effect is neither, therefore it affects the dwarf/duergar normally and they move faster. So do boots of striding & springing (which stacks with the travel domain, because that is untyped). So do all other speed modifications.
