Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I may be posing a strange question, but currently I have the pathfinder base set, all available expansions, the player mats, and a few hero miniatures to use in place of the token cards.

My question is, is there anything else I can possibly buy to further add to the game? I'm just a bit addicted :P

I was thinking about getting a large 'landscape' mat, but I'd have no idea where to even start looking for something like that...

Do you have enough dice so that no matter what kind of dice are being rolled if you are playing a 6 player game and everyone adds the max amount of stuff you will be guaranteed to have enough dice to roll it all at once?

Yeah, we have tons of dice collected from years of MTG

Are you in full LARPing gear while playing? :)

There are actually rise of the runelords dice. So you could "upgrade" your dice.

For the bad guys there's Rise of the Runelords miniatures, or the less expensive set of non-random pawns.

Your post got me to looking through my stuff for table dressing for our 2nd attempt at Black Fang tomorrow night. I'll be laying out this flip-mat: Dragons Lair with my Black Dragon Promo mini lying in wait for us in his lair.

You could get the pewter or bones miniatures from Reaper to use instead of the cards for your characters... but they will need painting.

And yes, that is what I've been doing. So far, Lini, Merisiel, Valeros, Seoni and Harsk. Now, I just need to find time to paint them...

We have Lem, Merisiel, and Valeros. Couldn't find the others, so instead we're using some miniatures from Descent 2nd Edition since some of those heroes look similar enough to the ones in Pathfinder

Same - seems to be a dearth of the minis for Pathfinder and I can't seem to find all of them made of the same material - some would be metal, some plastic- that tugs at my OCD. No chance of a re-issue on this stuff?

I'm using assorted minis from my D&D board games - some of the minis from Dungeon Command and Drizzt/ Ashardalon are near as dammit, and that'll do. Just bought Descent as well, but I didn't think any of them where closer than what I was using. Might end up even playing Desecent with them :)

I think some of the ones backordered from Paizo's site are available here. I see Harks for example:

All the miniatures are available pre-painted from Pathfinder's mini line. You can buy them as singles on all sorts of sites and eBay. They're fantastic.

Mad props to the painters out there and the Reaper idea. I'm all thumbs so I was thrilled to get them pre-painted.

Side Note: We love using the minis so much that we might even start pulling the figs for the monsters. The bugbear for example is spot on to its card.

If you need the galleries for all the minis, try this great site:
http://www.pathfinderminis.com/

I'm in total agreement with this post's author though. We're craving more PACG content in the worst way.

It won't actually change how you play the game, but if you sleeve your cards you could buy this:

I made an insert out of foam board for my sleeved cards.

You can buy or build for yourself a turn-table / "Lazy Susan". I'm in the (delayed) process of putting the final coats of polyurethane on my custom one that should work specifically for this card game...pics when it's all together. So far it looks / works pretty sweetly.

As someone that has seen this turntable, I can verify it does indeed look/work pretty sweetly. And in the end it wasn't too hard to make. We ended up purchasing already cut circles of wood (you can probably find some at your local home improvement store) and a lazy susan bracket and wood post and some L brackets to attach it all. The key tool was a beam compass which allowed us to find the center of the circle with a great degree of accuracy.

Its nothing to buy, but I've made lots of neat (or at least I think they are neat) things for my home game. A location layout, character layouts, that kind of stuff. Most of them are in this set of files: http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/98267/game-accessories-layout-guides-remo ve-from-game-wo

And because I sleeved my cards (they are too precious to allow harm to come to them), I ran into the problem with the insert everyone else does. So I made a new one. Used the same principles from the one that came with the game. Ended up with a nice little extra storage area too.

Here is a picture of it: http://boardgamegeek.com/image/1898765/pathfinder-adventure-card-game-rise- of-the-runelor

And here is how I made it:
http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/99044/constructing-a-foam-board-insert

I'd never done anything like that before and it turned out really well. So I think anyone could do it.

And if you don't care for that, others have done similar things on BGG, so you should check that out too.

I assume you have all the promos... or you can get 5 of the Blessing of Zarongel if you like...

Also, a nice sharpie for marking up the character cards?

Oh. How can we all be forgetting: A dice tower. That would be a nice thing to have. If you got a wooden one you could add some PACG artwork too it.

I have a sharpie and the character cards have clear sleeves, I don't have any of the promos, paying 10-30$ for a single card seems a little overboard for me

I dunno if it's frowned upon (or plain illegal for that matter) but the promos are pretty much freely available on this very internet if you don't mind printing 'em out. If it's just for the content value rather than the 'having one' aspect of it.

Sweet mercy - some of the paint jobs on those minis are gorgeous

We just got the metal Seoni, and we don't even want to paint her, she just looks amazing as is

Do we know if Paizo would ever consider using the PACG formula on non-pathfinder themes? (A Lovecraftian PACG Base Set would be an instant buy for me)

We're going to be busy with Pathfinder for a while.

Yes, They have all of the Iconics for PACG, some in the bones material (cheap but meh, game piece worthy at best) and all in pewter. Very good quality minis from what I've seen. There are several places from which to order them. As with all pewter/white metal minis though, clean them, remove the mold lines etc, and of course, at least prime them (white I recommend), so you don't touch bare metal.

Supplemental Adventure Decks, perhaps with all manner of variations on the victory conditions, "like Here Comes the Flood"?

Only for a very liberal definition of "available".

Seoni and Amiri have been sold out for a while; Harsk and Lem are hard to find, too. While it is possible to find some of these on eBay occasionally, the price you would have to pay can be pretty steep.

Whew - you got that right, JohnF. I'll have to check my minis double bin. There are some rather over-the-top prices out there at the moment.

I was thinking any would be easy to score at $8. PopularCollections.com is pretty good on re-stocking.

I happen to know this because I'm looking to pick up at least Seoni and Amiri (and possibly Harsk & Lem) to use in the Adventure Card Game. I've got one of all the other iconics in my ACG box already.

I'm probably going to be running at least the demo, and possibly the first scenarios, at a couple of upcoming cons. I know that having miniatures really increases the interest level from newcomers, so I'll be trying to use those as well wherever possible.

So if you do find any duplicates in your double bin that you'd be prepared to part with, I'd be only too happy to take them off your hands as long as the price isn't too ridiculous.
