Scanning over my subscriber's pdf copy of Herald of the Ivory Labyrinth, and lo and behold, I find a sidebar allowing for the (however remote) possibility of the redemption of a (albeit former) runelord (and a lich, at that!). Now this to me almost speaks as (if achieved) the ultimate epic redemptions (right up there with redeeming a certain demon earlier in the adventure path.)

10000 years a prisoner might give anyone a chance to reconsider their existence. As noted, it is a slim chance, but considering the unimaginable time and a very long look at what certainly will be his fate once his unlife ends - it might just barely be possible. Close to a miracle? Certainly. But the AP is getting to the point of myth and legend anyway. :)

But what would the ramifications of redeeming such a character be? Is there a way to make him cease being a Lich? Is there some good alternative to Undead, like the Deathless in 3.5?
Also, if they fail they basically released a Runelord back onto the Material Plane which could have its own......consequences. Granted I have not fully read the book, just skimmed it. I plan to read it tonight so I'll have a better grasp on the story after that.
