I'm not sure where you get that level of inflation. Every source I've see shows the minimum wage peaked in 1968 at $1.60, which would be ~$10.77 in today's dollars.
1945's was $0.40, which is well below today's in real dollars.I could easily be persuaded that the standard measures of inflation understate it, but by almost 10 times?
Why not tie it to real productivity instead?

I'd be okay with that, but the OP claimed $45/hr was the equivalent of the 1945 minimum in "resource buying power", which simply isn't close to true.
Tying it to productivity going forward might work. I suspect jumping to $45, even if that was justified by 70 years of productivity gains, would be inflationary and disruptive in the way opponents often claim any increase would be.

No interest in improving the minimum wage?
No interest in wasting our time. White House petitions are a true waste of time because the power to do anything about the minimum wage rests with Congress, not the President. Writing your Congressman is simmilarly a fruitless endeavour when we see Congressman voting against what over 70 percent of their constituency favors because they are in thrall to the folks who write fat campaign donation checks.
In addition to that, to call the presentation of your presentation on the White House site, sophomoric would be an act of insulting sophomores everywhere.

Yes I did. Part of the art of living well is creating time you can waste.

Why do I care if you highly doubt things? Ooooh. You're going to link
more articles at me of things you can't do for yourself. Interesting ...

You made the claim that no Nobel Prize economist would disagree with anything you've said.
Ah! But you said:
I highly doubt your claim that 0 Nobel Prize winning economists would support an increase in the minimum wage
YOU MOVED THE GOAL POSTS! That's not what I said. (You did the 1-<contrary> move, and you got caught.)
Do you want to go ahead and admit you were incorrect? Or try to
disguise that fact with more blather? Because you clearly MOVED THE GOAL POSTS.
And now you're a hypocrite.

Edit: I've defeated you too many times. I'm done with you.

I like Economics. It's good stuff. Fun stuff. Also, I've come to
realize the Minimum Wage Laws are Socialism in disguise. I didn't
realize this until you guys pointed it out so desperately..
Dude, I could of told you that.

He provided evidence that refuted your claims.
When?
Let me go back to enumeration:
1. No nobel winning economist will disagree with what I've said.
2. I'm certain a nobel winning economist could support raising the minimum wage -- no doubt in my mind.
3. Hurray for Public School
4. that guy did MOVE THE GOAL POSTS ! ah hahaahahahaa...
5. I think we have sock-puppets in play.

I'm still waiting for you to point out which goal post I moved.
As far as I'm aware, I'm just working off the one you set, where you claimed that no Nobel Prize economist would disagree with anything you said.
Edit: I guess I could have gone with the "anything" to mean anything ever, regardless of context or location, but that wasn't my intent. I'm only referencing things you've said in this thread.

No, you didn't. You dissed public schools. You mentioned how much you like Economics. You accused people of being sock puppets. You accused me of moving the goalposts.
You did not actually articulate how I moved the goal posts.
Now, I mentioned that you would move the goal posts. Since I predicted it, I will go ahead and highlight where it happened.
1. No nobel winning economist will disagree with what I've said.
2. I'm certain a nobel winning economist could support raising the minimum wage -- no doubt in my mind.
What was nice was you even recapped your earlier point and then immediately backtracked as if you had intended it all along. You've made the claim that the minimum wage is bad for the economy. You've made the claim that no Nobel Prize winning Economist would disagree with anything you said. I linked an article where 7 Nobel Prize economists disagree with your stance on minimum wage.
You should make some more snide comments about my critical thinking skills and/or public education, it will show off your superior logic and debate skills. Or maybe just another appeal to hypocrisy.

You're almost as whacked out in your analsysis as Dingo is in the threads he starts.
Not nearly as funny though.
The people who so insistently argue against a minimum wage, (Note that none of them themselves would cotton to the idea that THEY are worth less than that.) keep ignoring the fact that are ecnomic system relies on people having money to spend. When the real value of wages decline, as they have been for the middle class and lower, there's less money for spending. With less money for spending fewer goods get bought, less orders for goods are made, and more jobs get lost, feeding the cycle.
Despite what some folks may think, the economy is not boosted by pushing more people into poverty.

Hey thanks for the info Irontruth, It was interesting reading. While i don't have anything to add that wouldn't be redundant, other than my support for an increase in the minimum wage, I would like to say I find the repetition of "learn to think for yourself" and similar refrains to be the fallback position of those for whom the evidence does not support.
