Hi I'm looking to form a pathfinder group in Calgary. I have been playing via a VTT for about a year and would like to get involved in some in person gaming. I'm an old guy and would probably fit in better with a more mature crowd. I'm looking for a strong role playing group not a power gaming style. My other qualification is that I'm not interested in playing at the Sentry Box, and would prefer something in the Deep South East. I'm willing to GM if that is what is needed.

Hi.

I actually know of an existing group that fits your geographic requirements at least:

http://www.meetup.com/The-Calgary-Pathfinder-Meetup-Group/

I am trying to gather names to play Pathfinder Society in Calgary once in a while. If you're interested in that, I'm gathering the names on a Facebook group, here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/PFSCalgary/

I have a mature home group and we are totally over-full in terms of players or I'd invite you for that.

I have actualy been looking for a pathfinder group in Calgary, also there is also a poster RHH who had wanted to form a group.

I live in the NW but as long as there is transit I would be happy to travel south.

I live in NW in tuscany. I just ordered a whack of pathfinder rules. I want to run a campaign come the fall. I know that is a long time from now, but I havent played pathfinder before or even seen more than a glimpse of the rules. So I have some reading to do. Also, my mother in law will likely be staying here until then.
That said, I have gamed solidly for about 20 years, and I have ran a rolemaster campaign for 3 years, 3 years, and 2 years, and a champions campaign for 3 years, and 2 years, as well as few short run campaigns on sytems such as Harn, and Warhammer.
I am an older guy, and have good experience as a gm. I havent gamed for about 12 years, so I have a lot of pent up gaming to do. I would prefer gaming at a residence, and can offer up my own. I have a game room (which has only been used twice), which is basically a small room in my basement. In the spring I will post something at sentry box, and on this site, and set up an email to find 2-4 people to play, 3 being optimal. I think older people might be beter, but would be perfectly willing to gm for someone wanting to bring one of their kids to play (assuming they are old enough to get the system).
I would also like a group that might be into experimenting a little. One quick look at the basic combat rolls, and I am wanting to try adding the critical tables from rolemaster, which should be easily done. Also, at some point, when characters get a little more experience, I have found leading armies to be fun, and have used a modified version of warhammer to do this. Of course, though, I would omit any of this, or add more depending on the players desires, as this is what should drive any good campaign. I would be using the campaign supplement so players can start business, run organization, plant crops or whatever if they want. I would also be open to either running a preprinted Adventure path or doing a more custom campaign depending on characters desires. Anyway, I ramble. Like I said, I have a lot of pent up gaming energy.

Hey Reitif. I am 44 and I live in Rocky Ridge and playing the fall works for me so sign me up.

Cool. I am getting pumped for it. I almost feel sorry for my wife, as she has to listen to all my blathering, and is going to be my play tester. The more I look at pathfinder, the more I like it. I will definitely be ready and looking for you come the fall, and probably exchange some info before then.

Liberty's Edge

Let me know when your ready to go sounds interesting.

Still looking for people to play in the fall. If you are interested this is in the NW. I al also interested in what Adventure paths you might have played in so I can familiarize myself with one no one has played. I am leaning to Wrath, especially since there is some leading of armies. That sounds fun. In May I will set up an email so I can exchange details with anyone interested, and will likely post for players at sentry box If necessary. id like to find 2-4 players. I am wondering if you are still interested Black Dougal. I am also more prone to lay on weekends, but if needed, could do week days.

Yes, still interested. Wrath would be a good one to start to play as just bought mythic rules. Weekends would be perfect for me.

I have played COCT and DM'd Legacy of fire, but any of the others would be fine with me.

ok, cool. Assuming I don't have any trouble getting the modules, wrath it is.

Grand Lodge

I am an older guy (40) as well and am looking for fellow pathfinder adventurers either to join in one of their campaigns or if they are interested maybe joining a few campaign sessions that I am running as I am trying to start up my own home group and was hoping to run a few one shot adventures to get a feeling for GMing my new group and attract new players. Once the group is established I am then setting up to play the Jade Regent campaign.
I live right in the core so travel by transit and transportation would not be a problem. If you are interested please drop me a line on here or you can check out my webpage for more information on my group. http://talesoftheempire.wordpress.com/jade-dragons-gaming-club/ as I am always looking for fellow gamers and adventurers.

Hey Eric. I have been to your site. Cool, it is nice to see gamer groups in Calgary. I have always just played with friends, and am new to the "lets hook up to play" thing. Unfortunately I no longer live in the same city as all my old gaming friends, and the urge to play has lurched me into the role of seeking out people to do this with. I would be willing to GM, however, it is most convenient for me to do so out of my home. I am also definitely a GM more than a player. I like playing, I like have a character, but invariably I have to GM. I may be into being a player as a one shot adventure, but would need to know when/what days. As for my GMing, I am new to pathfinder, but like most 40+ guys who have been playing since junior high, I can soak up rules pretty fast. I would like to find 4 players (so, so far 3+ Black Dougal) to run Wrath of the Righteous with in the fall. This would be mid-September or Beginning of October, depending on my holiday travel plans. I am hoping one day a week (the minimum in my experience to keep tings flowing well) on the weekend. If you are interested, or know of others who might be, I can be reached through here. In the fall I will also be living about 2 blocks from a park and ride at Tuscany so if anyone has to bus it, it will be very easy.

So, I don't know how far along this has progressed but I seem to fall into this same category. 42 and live in the NE. Looking at the possibility of adding another group to roll with as my usual group only convenes every month or two. I'd be very interested in meeting some new folks and putting some stuff to the sword!

I'll bump this again as I'm looking for a group and Wednesdays at the Sentry doesn't work for me, if anyone is floating around looking for something maybe we can work it out, I've never GMed before but if that's what it takes I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I'd be interested in getting something going sooner than later. I'm 44 and not getting any younger and miss the good old days. I've Game Mastered for many years with many systems and look forward to doing such again.
I'm not one for modules and tend to steer clear of them, preferring a constantly evolving campaign world where the characters are important but not the center of the universe. I enjoy role-playing with combat and tactics and the use of miniatures. I also like using maps and props, etc... to provide a visual aspect that the players can work with. As the story evolves the characters become intertwined within it and sometimes everything is not always black and white. I like to make the players think! and not merely hack and slash your way through everything.
Friday Evening or Saturday or possible Sunday for a possible gaming day, either weekly or bi-weekly depending on the groups consensus.
Group size 3-5 players? But that's open for discussion as well as place to play?

Think about it, let me know, post on the board?

I'm committed to joining Reitif's campaign in the fall, and not sure yet what the gaming schedule will look like, but in general I am up for gaming on Friday nights or Saturday's as a player. I live in the NW so my bias is northside or at the Sentry Box but can be flexible.

Were looking at Friday evenings on a weekly basis, can you commit to that schedule? As it seems Reitif's campaign will fall on the weekends, at least that is what his messages have stated.
As to location, that's up in the air thus far, the other two players are in the north also, so most likely somewhere up there...

In the process of coordinating it all.

Hey Reitif and Black Dougal,
Message if you are still looking for another player. I'm 34 and in Edgemont so playing in Tuscany or Rocky Ridge would work out really well. I am looking to play once every second week or so.

sadly I have come to realize that raising an 18 month year old son is ridiculously time consuming. At best I could run modules, but would never have the time to do all the supplementary writing to make a really good campaign. Maybe in 3 or 4 years when he doesnt need constant supervision and I can steal a few hours a week to write. I just wouldnt want to run a a campaign in a half hearted manner. I would be interested in anyone wanting to learn warhammer 40k or space hulk. I have 2 pretty good armies for that game and 2 weak ones for fantasy, but GMing is just too time consuming to do properly right now. I did buy a case of wrath minis, and all of the supplements that would compliment it (chronicles of righteous, worldwound etc etc) and have all the modules so at some point I definitely will be back looking to play.
Sorry guys.

If anyone is looking for people to join their group, I would be happy to join.

YES!

I would love to join in a weekly game, I am in woodbine, so southland should be quite convenient.

I live in the north, but that sounds like it would be worth the drive!

Howdy,
A group has been running at The Sentry Box for a couple of months now.
It's an open session PFS of a couple/few tables on the first and third Saturdays of every month at 11:00 a.m. (DM's show up earlier).
With two or three different modules being run, you should be able to find one to suit you.

Hi. I too am looking for a Pathfinder group. I am new to the game, so I don't know much about it. I am available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturday afternoons. I live in the NW.
