Rules Question: Staggered, Standard Action, then Falls Unconcious?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Where can I find more rules about the staggered condition and a character or creature falling unconscious after striking an opponent? Why should taking a standard action to attack cause the attacker to fall unconscious?
The PRD merely states:
"Staggered: A staggered creature may take a single move action or standard action each round (but not both, nor can he take full-round actions). A staggered creature can still take free, swift and immediate actions. A creature with nonlethal damage exactly equal to its current hit points gains the staggered condition."
Thanks.

Characters falling unconscious after taking a standard action is a special condition when at 0 hitpoints.

Look up Disabled. Also, check under the Combat rules for hit points for a synopsis of what happens when you're at 0 hit points.

Nice avatar, btw.

Indeed.

It's funny. Posts like this come in tides. We send a flurry of them over to the Rules Forum, and then after a while the same people start asking PFS questions over there, which get flagged for removal over here.

Thank you all for your assistance and for indulging a novice GM.
