Why can't the movie / TV studios film the scifi / horror sequels the fans really want?

Movies

Big fan of the original Alien/Aliens 2 movie along with other movies such as T1,T2, Predator along with tv shows like DR who.I wonder why after 20+ years that the studios cant see most fans want the sequels to have certain elements

For example

Aliens 2 had space marines and yet it has never been revisited in all of the sequels but yet many videogames focus on the space marine part so it seems theres an audience for it. Instead we get isolated modern earth scenarios but it appears if we got a modern earth people would rather have a wasteland setting?

Predator-Might just be me but my favorite was the first 1 and yet for the most part they have stayed away from the jungle/soldiers.

Dr Who-Show is huge right now. I would think a Dalek revised movie based on the first invasion earth story or Peter Cushing story would have a huge market. Even if some of you are sick of them they are still popular and demand for a really good war movie with the DR on earth with possible Unit troops would be a huge success.

I'm sure there are others you guys can think of.

Don't know why they can't do it well. I think the best sci-fi films are actually character and psychology focused. For example, please compare the original "Total Recall" to the new one. Hated the new one but I loved so many subtle elements from the old one.

Love Aliens 2 and Predator also, two of my favorite movies. Again, I think they were awesome because of the unique characters, lines, and psychology behind the whole thing. And the music.

eh to be honest I kind of prefer the original Aliens, and am one of those heretics who think Aliens is over-rated.

Sovereign Court

To be fair Predator kind of returned to the "soldiers and jungle" theme al beit with a new spin. Not sure how well recieved it was. I enjoyed it though. Wish they would do an origins story on Larry Fishburnes character.

Because the fans aren't the target demographic.

They are so vastly different in tone and mood that I find it really difficult to compare the two. Alien is a horror story that builds on feelings of isolation and fear of the unknown keeping the monster mostly in the background until the last hour or so (I felt the movie would have actually been stronger if they had never had a full body shot of the alien - just nebulous darkness and hints of outlines) while Aliens is a rock 'em sock 'em action movie with a few horror elements in it (there's also the love story in it). High tech gadgets, big guns and explosions dominate over 1/2 this movie and, to me, it remains the gold standard of the smart action movie.
