Silver Crusade

Could a new arch-type type be added for the Hunter for rangeleing Meagfauna and Dire Animals?

Designer, RPG Superstar Judge

What is "rangeleing"?

I believe he may mean 'wrangling'?

At a guess, I'd say Lou meant 'wrangling', and is asking for a dinosaur/megafauna wrangler archetype

Oh!

I honestly thought--because hunters tend to be a ranged-oriented class and have a melee-oriented animal companion--that "rangeleing" was supposed to be a combo of "ranged" and "melee-ing."

Anyway, I'm not sure what he wants for this. The option of choosing megafauna and dire animals as animal companions?

That would be one possibility, although its hard to tell the difference between a dire wolf companion and wolf companion under Paizo rules...they look remarkably alike in stat block.

Perhaps he meant the ability to actually subdue or capture the monster variety of these animals. Or something similar to the mammoth rider, where the mount actually gets big enough to be a proper mammoth (or in this case megafauna)

Yeah I was assuming a combiantion of the two actually. Something like capturing these animals and taming them, either to use as mounts or to train and sell on.

Possibly grappling large creatures with ropes and whips.

I thought Lou meant range + melee as well.

But someone who tames creatures that aren't animal companions and gets bonus tricks, and maybe some stat boosts to fling around? That could be interesting.

Could be pretty broken for the same reason the 3.5 Druid's wildshape was, what with it getting more powerful with every Bestiary released. But it would be interesting.
