This may be due to sleep deprivation :p, but I cannot seem to see how the PCs are supposed to mount the keyboard. Its fifteen feet up and there does not seem to be an obvious way to ascend. I think it strains credulity to suggest that the priests had no easy way up, and I'm more than half convinced I'm missing something glaringly obvious. Any help would be much appreciated.

When I ran this last, I had ladders at either end of the organ. It wouldn't be realistic to me that the clergy would have to free-hand climb the organ multiple times per day.

However, if you stick to extreme RAW, then climbing smooth surfaces it is.

Maybe the clergy bring the ladder with them. :)

I always run it as the keys being 10 feet up, so you can jump to get hold of them and pull yourself up. From the top of the key to the organ itself is just 5 feet more. Climbing the pipes is an extra 15 feet, so to get those sound dampening black echelon out of there is quite hard! (and the only challenge, cause they aren't that dangerous!)

Hmm, I agree its unrealistic that the clergy haul their butts up, but though the Black Echelon might have moved the ladders or some such. I think I'll go with ladders at the ends since the additional Black Echelon still need to climb up and its less of a pain. I'm more comfortable adding that than altering what is specifically stated in the scenario text. Thanks folks.

I generally run it more as a skill challenge (lots of climb, acrobatics, perform checks) with the NPC indicating the keys to be pressed while the party is in combat which is amusing with people jumping and dashing across the keys to press them while trying to fight the black echelon.
