Actually I get why this is useful, which is why we have something like it. For performance reasons the closest thing we have is the display on the main page for each forum that lists recent posters in a thread, e.g., for this thread it shows "Oceanshieldwolf, danielc and Steve Geddes". The rules for how that caption is constructed may vary but I think it's basically the most prolific posters over the past few pages of the thread.

Yeah, that's a good substitute. The only weakness is that when you discover a large thread with several hundred posts, the last few pages are often monopolised by the "diehards" duking it out for Internet glory. The discussion of interest is often in the first few hundred posts, not the last few hundred.
I would expect performance issues to trump such considerations, but if there were ever a way to give more detail (on request, not by default) then I'd appreciate it.

Understood, and I am familiar with that display function.
If that display could be clicked on and would list all the posters, much like you can click on all those who favorited a post, THAT would be cool… Thanks for your reply Gary. :)
