How'd that slip in there? :-S

John would probably be the final arbitrator here, but the Campaign Setting: The Worldwound version of the Gib (and the spell itself) has no save listed for the waves of fatigue. So, I'd go with no save.

As for the campsites:

Cape Town doesn't have that many level 7+ characters, so I've only managed to run the scenario a few times. Currently, Cape Town is tending towards the caves. Only one player, so far, has championed the hot springs, demanding a Pathfinder onsen scenario.

Jerall, that's funny that only one player has championed the hot springs for you. My group (as I reported) went with that choice.

Guess you've creeped them out too much with the ghost town (they expect the ghosts to be real?)... and the prospect of a clan of frost giants at the caves was also daunting. So, they went with the fresh water, and known quantities (they could always bring in casters to build fortifications with Wall of Stone, etc., right?), over the better sites with likelihood of conflict.

The creepiness of the town was just too much for them, even though it was likely the best site!

Of the three tables I know of, most have gone for the caves.

The ghost town frightens them too much, and they feel confident that they could just kill any giants that showed up in the cave; everyone agreed that the springs were too defenseless.

I think we just wanted another S5 scenario fighting frost giants based on our choices here. Because ghosts are spooky and frost giants seem more fun to fight. I mean, the last giant scenario I remember was pretty awesome.

Really looking forward to running this again now that I have the gilbrelith mini.

Can't fault you on that one. Always fun (and dangerous) to fight giants! Let's you know you actually killed something worth killing. In fact, a really nice change from the huge numbers of demons you tend to fight in PFS. That, and just "ordinary" NPCs ;)

I'll not have a problem running this one again. It was challenging from both sides of the screen. I'll just need to brush up on mounted combat before I do it again, and make sure I can run insane barbarian-monks characters!

We picked the ghost town, as it seemed like it would be safer than fighting a whole tribe of frost giants, random people disappearing is a small price to pay for a prebuilt area with access to water

My buncha sword swingers wanted the caves, but us gnomes do not think it is fair to force us to climb that every time you pathfinders need us to save you.

I wanted the hot baths cause that is awesome to kill some demons and then take a bath. Sooo We com-puter-ized and picked the town. Because after all someones left it for usiz.

Yes... though the town had a feeling of wrongness, but it seemed the most defensible and accessible of all the possible locations that the honored pathfinder society would accept. If there are in fact gui there, the sirits of the dead, then we shall put them to rest in time.

When I ran, the group picked hot springs. I may have influenced that slightly *innocent whistling, ha!* but they were all pretty happy with that choice. The jokes they made about it were pretty stellar; hey why can't the Society have something nice this season?

But in all seriousness, at least the options for this were better than for Glass River Rescue where there wasn't a choice:

Less than the illusion of choice:
Temel Passad, whom most players either don't remember or have never encountered, isn't given any bargaining chips; those players (players, not characters) who do remember him loathe Passad so vote against him. Also, Rakuska is a dwarf with ties to the organization with whom you're about to bargain for troops and access to the Sky Citadel. I've only had one table not say "Duh, let's go with the dwarf-lady" because I have Passad a better hand. Even still, all tables sided with Rakuska.

Mammoths gives obvious drawbacks and boons to each location, which results in greater table variance and lets the players actively deliberate and weigh their options. This kind of player involvement was handled much better than it was in GRR. I've played/run several (not all) of the other season 5s, but I don't recall options in them, so I can only speak for the two I know to have a vote in them.

For the Spectral Mammoth Lords, should they be Advanced Spectres? A normal Spectre has 52 hp, vs the 68 hp specified in the stat block.

May be running this soon and seeing if there is an answer to this.

I'd like to know this as well.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I dont know for sure but i would run it as yes.
It is an optional encounter. Might want to save time and not do it if it appears party going after both boss fights.
