Michigan's Newest 4-star GM!!!

Shadow Lodge 5/5

I just want to give a hearty shout-out to Alex McGuire for his recent achievement of his 4th star! Not only does Alex run games online, he also coordinates one of Metro Detroit's most successful locations at Main Street Billiards in Rochester, MI. For a long time he has felt the strain primarily shouldering the GM'ing burden, but hopefully this accomplishment makes some of those long, lonely nights worth it!

Congratz, Alex!

Way to go Alex!
Thanks for getting me back into tabletop gaming and for getting me into PFS.

You're a kickass friend to have as well as a great person to see at the table whether you're GM'ing or PC'ing.

Congratulations, Alex. I'm not sure I've ever gotten a chance to play at your table, but I hope to do so eventually.

Do you have any advice to the novice organizer? What do you do, to keep players and GMs happy?

Have you ever run a table and had two players who were rubbing one another the wrong way? I've run into this the last couple of months, and I'm looking for advice about how to smooth the friction between them, efficiently.

What's the most fun table you've ever run?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. I'm fairly certain I've never met you in person Chris, though I intend to GM quite a bit at Gen Con this year.

Advice to organizers: Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Make sure to find an opportunity to play occasionally, if only at some other organizer's location or online. Set a schedule and stick with it. Stay on your location's good side. Make sure your GMs get opportunities to play (individual GMs shouldn't GM more than half of the time). Be consistent.

There are a few players at my location who have trouble together; usually I just try to split them into different tables.

Too many super fun tables to name. I've been blessed with great players both locally and online, and look forward to continuing to run games. Five stars by (or at) Gen Con!
