What is the template for a 20' cone?

Rules Questions

Literally what the title says. I want to run an encounter with a wyrmling red dragon and well since it's small it'll have a 20' cone. I've looked everywhere and can't figure out what that's supposed to look like. Thanks for your help guys!

Liberty's Edge

a good rule of thumb, for cones is that they work just like if your character walked that distance. So just measure out 20' of walking. you know second diagonals are double space.

So, would this be correct then?

That looks pretty good actually

The sideways cone may or may not be right.

It could also be 2,4,6,2 if it's drawn from 2 starting squares like the 30ft cone instead of 1 starting square like the 15ft cone.

The sideways one is incorrect: Cones and blasts always start from an intersection.

This would be correct

Why isn't the 15' cone like that then?

The 30' clearly follows that train of thought, but the 15' doesn't appear to.

As far as I can tell, including reading the 3.5e DMG, the 15' cone still starts from an intersection, but its shape makes it appear like an exception.
