magical locations

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I've heard about the otyugh hole where you can go and basically get iron will for free. I've heard reference to other magical locations too, but can't seem to find them anywhere. Can someone tell me where to find a list of magical locations?

Wait...what? I have no idea what you're talking about, but you're saying you can get a feat for free?

yeah, it's 3.5 I'm pretty sure, but I was going to adapt it for my campaign, scattering these magical locations throughout the land.

looks like most of them are in the complete scoundrel from what I've found so far.

What do you have to do? You just go to the hole, look in, and you get a feat, or do you have to make a roll or something?

Moving this thread to General Discussion, as I don't think it has anything to do with the Beginner Box.

There are a bunch of magical locations in ECS and MoE. I'm not sure about getting iron will from a location, though.

its basically the most recent batman movies Bane and his evil prison hole of doom. You don't get Iron will for sitting in a hole, you get iron will for sitting in a hole stripped of your gear, sitting in filth, next to a hungry monster that wants to eat you for a few weeks while the guards above you laugh at your misfortune. Taken in vacuum it seems a bit silly but the whole concept is that you irritated someone enough to get put in the special jail cell.

That particular one is referenced often due to it being one of the few location based rewards that don't have a time limit attached.

With my lazy punk google-fu it seems someone on the internet has put a mostly complete list of magical locations in this google Doc
magic locations google doc.
there is also a half complete "guide" to affiliation bonuses and magical locations, it does seem to provide a list of books to look for if nothing else.
old guide book.

Actually, you get iron will or another feat, but iron will is a preq so most people just take it.

thanks movin, that was very helpful :)
