Bloodrager made for an awesome killing machine

We just played a long two-day session of Wrath of the Righteous, taking our characters from level 1 to 3.

The bloodrager rocked our enemies over and over and over again with his 18 Strength (22 when bloodraging), Weapon Focus: greatsword feat, masterwork greatsword, and bloodrage. He would basically charge and put down an enemy every round.

It was glorious.

Can't wait to see what he's like once he gets spells.

While I think it's great you enjoyed yourself, all you have really said is that (as we know) the barbarian is a solid class.

To be fair this is really indicitive of my only problem with the bloodrager. From levels 1-3 they are virtually indistinguisable from a regular barbarian.

Not that this is a major issue it just makes playtesting at low levels rather difficult from the perspective of providing insight.

There will be more as we play more.

Basically a Barbarian who hasn't manifested all that arcane ANGRY in him. =D

I like the idea. Plus the difference is that 1st level Bloodline power can be really cool. Celestial Bloodline gets you Good Aligned attacks for instance.

True...but how often do you come across DR/Good in levels 1-3?

Because coolness. And its a bonus 1d6 regardless against evil outsiders. And those are a possibility =)

How about imps, quasits, dretches, and lemures. All DR 5 /good and all are CR 2. I'm sure there are others but demons and devils seem like good place to start.

In Wrath of the Righteous? Very often.

Yes, but naming off a few low CR Outsiders doesn't really answer the "How often" question.

IME they don't come up a whole bunch. I've seen Imp Familiars more often than I've fought an Imp, for example.

I'm not saying it's a bad ability, just that stating it's what separates the Bloodrager from the Barbarian at low levels is not a very big distinction.

I'd argue that an extra 1d6 situational damage is a very big distinction at levels 1-3, regardless of the source. Ask a rogue.
