'Seeker Arcs' and high-level PFS play

Scarab Sages 4/5

So we have heard that Eyes of the Ten will be retired and replaced by a new "Seeker Arc".

While I'm excited to hear that they will be updating from Eyes of the Ten, I'm also wondering why PFS still needs to cling to this idea of a level 12 arc. With sanctioned modules and APs there are plenty of options for 12+ play out there now and I think maybe it's time to break away from the old "retirement arc" mold.

Rather than creating a new level 12 "Seeker Arc", it might be time to just start releasing 12+ scenarios. It could still be a special thing and you could still title them "Seeker scenarios" or something similar but they would essentially be 12-13 or 12-14 scenarios. There wouldn't need to be many, but maybe make a point to release one or two "Seeker scenarios" per year. Rather than having to rewrite a new "Seeker Arc" every few years, these scenarios could be more long-lasting and permanent and will build up over time. In a few years there may even be a need to add some 14-16 scenarios (wishful thinking).

Then again, I suppose there is a good chance that this new Seeker Arc will be just that. Perhaps I should just sit on my hands and wait and see what the team has in store. But just like many others I would love to see more high-tier play in PFS and releasing a "Seeker scenario" once/year could just fulfill this need.

The post you've quoted doesn't say that at all.

I personally like Eyes of the Ten. I played it and had a blast. It does need an update, which is probably why many have not played it. After reading it, there indeed a lot of errors and things that should be worked out. So perhaps an update before getting retired may be a nice hold over until we get to new adventures.

But I am not against higher tier play either. Especially since there are many of us who are now getting to the higher level play with multiple characters and we love them and don't want to either play slow or retire them. And then we can fight those really awesomely nasty baddies in Bestiary 4.. (Clockwork dragons? Yeah, I'd fight that.)

Anyone know anything about Wardens of the Reborn Forge becoming legal for play? It's a 12-16 level adventure and that would be an awesome new seeker arc. Just a thought.

Look through the whole thread. The fact that Eyes of the Ten will be replaced is nothing secret or unknown. I think they've been pretty open that EotT will be retired and replaced eventually.

I don't have the link right away but look back at the blog post several months ago by John about sanctioning the new module formats. I believe the plan is to continue sanctioning all new modules in the same way that Dragon's Demand is sanctioned; you'll get several chronicle sheets for the module (worth several levels) and an additional chronicle sheet for completing the whole thing in "campaign mode".

I don't see anything saying it will be retired. Just comments that it won't be retired until there's a replacement available, and with plenty of notice.

What would be good to see, were they to replace it, would be with a module (rather than scenarios). Also, it would be cool if it had the replay-ability of The Confirmation. This may mean a larger module, so that different arcs can be represented. Dunno. Just an idea.
