Invulnerable Rager Archetype and Increasing DR

Rules Questions

Barbarian Archetype: Invulnerable Rager

Invulnerability (Ex)

At 2nd level, the invulnerable rager gains DR/— equal to half her barbarian level. This damage reduction is doubled against nonlethal damage.

This ability replaces uncanny dodge, improved uncanny dodge, and damage reduction.

If he takes Increased Damage Reduction as a rage power does it also increase his resistance to nonlethal damage?

Good question.

Core Barbarian Damage Reduction wrote:
Damage Reduction (Ex): At 7th level, a barbarian gains damage reduction. Subtract 1 from the damage the barbarian takes each time she is dealt damage from a weapon or a natural attack. At 10th level, and every three barbarian levels thereafter (13th, 16th, and 19th level), this damage reduction rises by 1 point. Damage reduction can reduce damage to 0 but not below 0.

Increased Damage Reduction Rage Power wrote:
Increased Damage Reduction (Ex): The barbarian's damage reduction increases by 1/—. This increase is always active while the barbarian is raging. A barbarian can select this rage power up to three times. Its effects stack. A barbarian must be at least 8th level before selecting this rage power.

I'd say the Invulnerable Rager only increases his DR by 1 with this Rage Power, both against lethal and non-lethal damage, though I'm pretty sure I've seen it played the other way as well.

EDIT: Hmm, upon closer inspection, Invulnerability replaces the Core Barbarian's Damage Reduction class feature. In that case it could be argued that the Increased Damage Reduction rage power increases that specific type of Damage Reduction by 1, which would then double against non-lethal.

I think you've found the perfect example of something that will have to be left up to GM interpretation =)

Thank you Nefreet.

Now how about with the Stalwart Feat?

Stalwart
You adopt a defensive stance that allows you to absorb and redirect hits.

Prerequisite: Diehard, Endurance, base attack bonus +4.

Benefit: While using the total defense action, fighting defensively action, or Combat Expertise, you can forgo the dodge bonus to AC you would normally gain to instead gain an equivalent amount of DR, to a maximum of DR 5/—, until the start of your next turn. This damage reduction stacks with DR you gain from class features, such as the barbarian's, but not with DR from any other source. If you are denied your Dexterity bonus to AC, you are also denied this DR.

Since Stalwart specifically states it stacks with class features, then that bonus DR should also be doubled vs non-lethal.

Neato.
