Seoni and Acolytes

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

So I was wondering about the Acolytes usefulness for Seoni. While it's definitely useful early on when you may need help to recharge items with the magic trait, I was less sure about the ability to add 1d4 to your arcane or divine check. I was wondering if the 1d4 applies to combat checks that use your arcane or divine skill or whether it is only for arcane or divine checks to acquire items or disable barriers.

Acolyte can be used for Arcane or Divine combat checks. I find the Acolyte to be useful to Seoni for that purpose.

A check is a check, whether it is combat or non-combat. If they wanted to limit it to non-combat checks only, they would have specifically said "non-combat checks" (like the blessings).

Thanks for the replies guys! Got lucky and we had three acolytes show up in the Brigandoom scenario and no one else in my party wanted them. I didn't want to clutter up my deck if that wasn't the case.

My Seoni has 3 Acolytes, and it works really well for cycling through your deck since she can recharge the acolyte and attack spells. You will pretty much always have one acolyte in hand for a combat check.

The problem is (at least in 6 char games), you need allies to give you extra explores.

How useful are Acolytes for Seonis fireball power? The Acalyte add 1D4 to an Arcane (or Divine) check, and sure, Seoni roll her Arcane die, so is this an Arcane Combat check then or not? The power state the attack is with Fire and Magic trait, not with Arcane trait.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Since she uses her arcane die, it is an arcane check. Just like playing a sword is a strength check. Skills and traits both determine what type of check it is.
