Challenging scenario to put the new class through their paces?

We're looking to run a special game day this weekend for the folks who just can't wait to try out the new classes. What's a good, challenging tier 1 or 1-2 scenario to see just what these new classes can do?

I was thinking Darkest Vengeance or The Dalsine Affair: Scenarios with a reputation as being killer. But these get their reputation mainly from abusing Darkness (or Deeper Darkness), don't they?

How is Tide of Morning? Or how about The Hydra's Fang Incident, or Severing Ties? Maybe The Cyphermage Dilemma?

Any suggestions? Thanks much.

As always I will suggest Frozen Fingers of Midnight, Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (this one will make those classes WORK), and Rise of the Goblin Guild.

These have always been the scenarios that have spoken to me, and the last 2 on that list have good challenging encounters.

Not sure about the "good" part, but there's one being released in 9 days (not that anyone's counting).

I would've suggested it for you, but "this weekend" says they can't wait that long. Not that I blame them, I'm going to have trouble tearing myself away from the material to do all the work I have.

I am not at all sure that the new classes will be able to shine, or even differentiate themselves, at first level. Monks come front loaded with bonus feats, but even they take a few levels to show what they can do. Casters are limited to first level spells, and few of those. Barbarians have no rage powers, but do have rage itself.

My players probably won't wait 9 days, so I want to give them something to tinker with now. Of course, if I run something that kills all their PCs, 9 days from now will be about the right time for them to start over from scratch! ;P

have always enjoyed runnnig Crypt of the Everflame. While it is a module, it is a good starting test for new characters

Murder on the Silken Caravan is pretty challenging.

Ah yes, where my wizard created her first 'corpsecle'. That one can be challenging.

Only on the lower tier, though. On the higher tier it gets... silly.

Severing Ties comes to mind.

Dalsine Affair is challenging, but it's also spiky. It doesn't really let characters shine, it just kills one in the surprise round.

The Exchange 4/5

If you haven't run it yet, quest for perfection has three very different diverse scenarios. I think its a good series to test some characters out.
