Recruitment

Silver Crusade

I've been wanting to play WoW again. So, I thought about an Azeroth during Cataclysm that is without Cataclysm -- the Greymane Wall breaks by some other means other than the Cataclysm, and the goblins of the Bilgewater Cartel joins the Horde for the same reasons.

I've got most of the WoW RPG books, including the WOW RPG.

This is only an interest check. I was thinking of an Alliance Campaign, actually. So the following races are open to you:

-- Human
-- Dwarf
-- Gnome
-- Night Elf
-- High Elf
-- Worgen (Greymane pack)
-- Draenei (aka. Space Goat, Teifling)

------------------------------------

Classes available (PF with (WoW) equivalent in Parenthesis)
-- Fighter (Warrior)
-- Cleric (Priest)
-- Cleric (Shaman, with an archetype)
-- Druid (Druid)
-- Wizard (Mage)
-- Wizard (Warlock, as an archetype)
-- Ranger (Hunter)
-- Paladin (Paladin)
-- Rogue (Rogue)

--------------------------------------

If anyone wants to play Horde, I could do an Argent Crusade campaign. :)

but I want to see if anyone would be interested. It can take a lot of work, though.

There was recently another WoW recruitment thread, but it disappeared after a bit of interest Not sure where the prospective GM went. I'd be interested more in Horde.

Silver Crusade

On Tuesday Paizo will release the class guide playtest. It'll have some hybrid classes that might pull off WoW classes as well (like a hunter for the hunter, and a shaman for the shaman). Just a suggestion.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I know about it. :)

They sent me an email to try it out. :)

The Argent Crusade is a good place to start, actually, to mix members of both factions.

The Races of the Horde:

Orcs (these have to be custom built)
Forsaken (have to be custom built again)
Jungle Trolls and Forest Trolls
Taurens
Blood Elves (Elves with a grudge)
Goblins

Usually its:
Humans vs. Orcs, until the Orcs settled in Kalimdor. Then it's Orcs vs. Night Elves
Taurens vs. Dwarves
Forsaken vs. Humans
Blood Elves vs. Draenei
Worgen vs. Goblins.

I'd very much be interested in a wow game.
Although I would like to note that tiefling works badly as dranei.

If I were to stat them up, I'd do something akin to:

-+2 wis and con, -2 dex.
-speed, 30ft.
-Low-light Vision.
-Medium size.
-+2 to heal and diplomacy checks.
-sign of the Naaru; At will, a dranei may summon a sigil over his brow, emitting light as the "light" spell.

I am interested in a WoW game, Alliance or Horde.

Is this a pathfinder campaign modded for Warcraft? If so I would be very much interested, would prefer Horde but I like the Alliance too so I would be happy either way

Please let me know if recruitment is still on-going and if I am correct in my earlier assumption.

Silver Crusade

Just checking on interested folks. :)

RE: The Dragon --> Yep, I'll have to stat up the space goats.

if folks are interested, I'll begin a wiki.

Silver Crusade

Well, there are folks interested.

I'll start a Wiki. :)

Silver Crusade

Well, after I'm well rested. :)

Mind if we use the classes from the ACG playtest to do this? I've been wanting to create a slayer for a while now. If I can't do that I'll probably make a fighter or barbarian. Two weapon fighting no matter how I slice it, though.

Silver Crusade

At first glance, the hunter from the ACG playtest can work wonders. It's pretty much there -- you get an animal companion and some ranger spells.

I've not checked the slayer out. It almost sounds like a Death Knight to me, ha-ha. :)

I'm mulling over if Outland and Northrend should be mythic areas and Pandaria should be normal heroic. Arthas should be an event worth mythologizing about, but the Oriental South continent of Pandaria don't sound to me to be all that mythic. Although Draenor of Warlords of Draenor is Mythic status, most definitely, (hey you pull a Time And Relative Dimensions In Space with the Dark Portal on that one).

The spells from More Magic and Mayhem are really easily rebalanced. :) Current WoW, however, made Frostfire Bolt a stable for beginning mages and I've not played an Arcane Mage on wow for such a long time, I don't know how they balanced Arcane Missiles, LOL! :)

So Pathfinderized WoW spell lists would probably be like this (1st level only):

Wizard/Mage:

Level 1 (bold from the World of Warcraft RPG, Italics from More Magic and Mayhem, blue for interesting spells from Paizo):

Alarm: Wards an area for 2 hours/level.
Arcane Missile: 1d4+1 damage; +1 missile per two
levels above 1st (max 5).
Burning Hands: 1d4/level fi re damage (max 5d4).
Charm Person: Makes one person your friend.
Comprehend Languages: You understand all spoken
and written languages.
Disguise Self: Changes your appearance.
Identify: Determines properties of magic item.
Mage Armor: Gives subject +4 armor bonus.
Mana Shield: You may choose to lose spell slots
instead of hit points.
Moonglaive: You fling a conjured moonglaive at
multiple opponents.
Protection from Evil: +2 to AC and saves against evil
creatures, counter mind control, hedge out elementals
and outsiders.
Shadow Meld: Remaining motionless near shadows,
you become invisible.
Silent Image: Creates minor illusion of your design.
Slow Fall: Objects or creatures fall slowly.
Touch of Combustion

Plus, the rules for alchemy from More Magic and Mayhem will be there --and-- I'm wondering if adding the prestige class for Enchanter would be cool or not.

Silver Crusade

1st look, no creation data yet.

Slayer is actually more like the warcraft rogue than the rogue, if that makes sense.

Also, the ranger is already an Excellent hunter analogue - Boon Companion makes them bestmasters.

Can I be a crazy goblin alchemist? Is alchemist allowed? Hmm, is goblin allowed?

Answers to your questions:

Q1. Yes, see your answer to question 2.

Q2. Ermm . . . Maybe. Do you want to be an authentic WoW Alchemist or a Pathfinder Goblin Alchemist? They are two different experiences.

Q3. Yes.

I suspect a pathfinder RPG in the WoW setting works better without trying to adapt the actual WoW classes to pathfinder mechanics.

That may be true. But, More Magic and Mayhem has expanded the Craft (Alchemy) skill without the need for a dedicated class. I wanted to ask exactly what he wanted to go for.

Ok cool. I would be whichever is more fitting.
A smart but crazy goblin using alchemy, maybe creating or inventing some wierd stuff.

Well, in WoW you can invent a Hog.

Do you think we could use half-orc stats instead of orcs? I view them as the Horde counterpart to Humans, and the pathfinder orcs are quite unworkable as a player race.

That is possible.

Here are the Stats from the World of Warcraft RPG:
Orc Racial Traits
• +2 Stamina, –2 Intellect. Orcs are incredibly tough,
but they are more likely to follow their passions instead
of reason.

• Medium: As Medium creatures, orcs have no special
bonuses or penalties due to their size.

• Orc base land speed is 30 feet.

• Low-Light Vision: Orcs can normally see two times
farther than a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight
and similar conditions of poor illumination. Orcs retain
the ability to distinguish color under these conditions.

• Battle Rage: Orcs long ago learned how to harness
the ferocity that dwells within their fi erce hearts. This
ability functions exactly as a barbarian’s rage, except for
the differences noted below.
The orc may rage only once per day.
If the orc belongs to a class that already
allows access to a rage-like ability (such as
the barbarian class), the orc’s racial battle rage
ability allows him to rage one additional time per day.
Regardless, an orc may rage only once per encounter.

• +2 racial bonus on Handle Animal (wolf) and
Intimidate checks. Intimidate is a class skill for all orcs.

• +1 racial bonus on attacks against humans. Orcs
have a longstanding enmity with humans.

• Weapon Familiarity: Orcs may treat orc claws of
attack as martial weapons rather than exotic weapons.

• Automatic Languages: Common and Orcish.

• Bonus Languages: Goblin, Low Common, Taur-ahe.
Orcs tend only to learn the languages of their allies.

Oh yeah, I just had some insight that the Pathfinder Alchemist can fit. :)

Krennan, Ambercrombie, Apothecary Putress all count as Pathfinder Alchemists. Even the unknown Orc alchemist that has been turning members of his race into giants . . .

Count me in as another interested player. I'll wait until you've hammered out everything before making a final choice but I'd probably pull from my own list of WoW characters I created in game. I can list my potentials for now.

Rynora (Human Death Knight) - Born a farm girl from Southshore (and for the record, I chose that location long before the Forsaken wrecked it), she absolutely hated her lot in life. She joined an adventuring group for the sake of excitement but bit off more than she could chew. The only reason her story didn't end there was because she was the last member of her party to fall and thus showed potential as a death knight. She committed her share of evil acts before she was freed from the influence. Having mellowed out greatly, she sought to make her unlife useful unlike her normal life. If you plan to do the Argent Circle plot, I can see her joining or at least helping out if she wasn't accepted. She doesn't hate the Horde (though she does have a less than stellar opinion on Sylvanas). Pathfinderwise, I think the Antipaladin without the always chaotic evil requirement would be the best fit. Sure smite good is wasted on her but that's the price paid for switching sides.

Therasha (Worgen Warrior) - Therasha is not her true name but she goes by it as an alias. Therasha was a noble daughter whose family supported Greymane's rule. Even under the curse, that loyalty helped her through the rough moments until the Night Elves arrived. Therasha views her wolf form as a curse and prefers to stay in her human form until she is forced to change under the most dire of circumstances. Arrogant to a fault, she fully supported the construction of Greymane Wall and tends to insult others often. In some ways, its a defense mechanism to hide the fact that she feels like she has lost her place in life. Going with the Argent Circle idea, she would definitely be on thin ice and one step away from being kicked out. She will mock all races with the exception of Worgens and Night Elves. She also tends to go easy on Humans and Blood Elves but feels that Gilneas should have been strong enough to stand alone and perhaps can be again one day.

Amelia (Blood Elf Mage) - Before Arthas' invasion of Silvermoon, Amelia only sought to study under one of the many archmages in the city. Her father had a strong career in politics before he retired and had high hopes Amelia would follow in his footsteps (After all, no self-respecting blood elf should be ignorant of magic). When the invasion occurred, her father wanted to use his skills to help defend the city since he thought one more mage on the field could easily turn the tide. Amelia wasn't so idealistic. She knocked her father unconscious and dragged him out of Silvermoon. When the blood elves returned to reclaim their city, Amelia had earned the scorn of her father. She wanted to prove that her decision was right and so she redoubled her efforts in magic to assist those who wanted to fight against the Lich King. Although she wasn't present for the final battle, Amelia did give the Argent Crusade her full support often casting spells for their members. This hasn't been enough to mend the fences with her father but she hopes her own chance to do something great will come. While she is slow to trust the alliance especially humans, she refused to let that hurdle get in the way of her goals.

I am thinking Tauren Hunter

I wish I could include alternate racial traits for them. But i'd have to speak to Chris Metzen and the other guy in charge of Lore to do that. :)
