I think they might reach their goal...it will be close.

So will this book have a green spine to blend in with the Pathfinder Bestiaries? ;)

Umm. Is this really really dry sarcasm?

Possibly. It might be camp. I'm never quite sure what camp is, though.

When in doubt, start doing the Bat-tutsi.

Uh... Might reach their goal? They're at 88.5% right now. The only question is how many stretch goals they hit.

Actually quite a few kickstarters from our 3pp are delivered on time, and LRGG even sends their products out early. :)

hell yeah we do, btw totally gonna put some cash aside for this.

I'd be up for a PDF on principle. This is just too good. What put me over the edge for a hard copy is imagining color illustrations. This is a huge resource for GMs, and I think it will be a shot in the arm for Pathfinder-compatible developers.

Advanced Bestiary, Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition, Book of Monster Templates, 101 Not So Simple Templates. These are four essential books every GM should have available to add a dash of spice here and there to things.

Backed. Sadly missed out on the early bird special, because I only just found out about this 10 minutes ago.

I never saw BoT:Deluxe Edition.

Monsters Handbook, from Fantasy Flight Games, was the book I used to make my first template. They make cool board games, but I wish they'd Pathfinderize some of their third edition stuff.

There are some other nice-looking template books, but the one I most want to own is the one from this kickstarter. As I type this, 91.9% with 24 days to go. What's that I smell in the air? Stretch goals!!

Backed, unfortunately at the lowest level for the original PDF only due to Paizo subs eating all of my money right now, but I figure every little counts :)

I'd love for someone to update that as well. Does Silverthorne Games still exist?

Every little bit DOES help, and we thank you!

I found the same edition from Goodman Games. Wonder if they have the rights to it; as opposed to Silverthorne?

ICV2 has a short article about the Advanced Bestiary Kickstarter!

Liberty's Edge

At the very least I may get this when it goes to stores. except now I'm not sure sure. With Paizo having added some templates into their bestiaries already...ah the hell with it. If it has some new art I will get it. I may still get it just because it was and is my favorite 3.5 book.

Here is a link to their site. Has not been updated since 2010. http://silverthornegames.com/sgblog/?page_id=7 maybe asking through Goodman Games.

Hey folks!

As we approach our funding level, we're sending out a thank you to everyone with a free sample of what you can do with an Advanced Bestiary template.

Over on the Kickstarter update you can now get a link to download a vicious [url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1780208966/advanced-bestiary-for-the-pathfinder-rpg/posts]cave ogre![/url[

Sigh. Fixed that for you.

Don't you just love it when someone who likes to help/is OCD bumps your thread. Marketing rule for Paizo boards 101: make mistakes. They are eminently bumpable.

You don't pay for a kickstarter when you back, you pay when it funds at the end of its time.

That's a good point.

I could be wrong but isn't there supposed to be the BAB in the Melee listing? I think it should be +8.

Just my 2 cp.

Backed at the pdf level. I love the 3.5e templates, demon-possessed and devil-bound gave me the major players in a huge side quest in my old Kingmaker game, and will love seeing the Pathfinder update.

Yeah, I just got told that was caught today. I guess I rushed the free sample. This is, of course, why I don't work as an editor. :P

Yes, it would be +8 (+3 BAB, +6 Str, -1 size).

Scarab Sages Contributor

We're funded!
And we've put out a free Cave Troll pdf (download in update 1!)
Now, on to the stretch goals!

Head Honcho, Green Ronin

Today's update to the Advanced Bestiary Kickstarter has another free sample monster: the Toxic Goblin! This is a level 1 goblin warrior with the poison creature template from the Advanced Bestiary applied. Enjoy!

I managed to sneak into a vacant Early Bird Beast level.

Scarab Sages Contributor

Heya folks!

We're hit our funding, our first stretch goal, and we're halfway to our next stretch goal. We've released three preview pdfs. We have a week left!

Anything else we can do to convince you to jump in, spread the word, and/or up your pledge? :D

Come on $37,500! I'd love to see this one in full color.

Scarab Sages Contributor

Wanna see what a Blood Knight looks like in full color?

Wanna work with me to pick one of the sample creatures we apply a template to?

Go check out Update #7!

I would love to grab one of these higher pledge levels but it's to high a jump from the early bird. :(

Nice previews, and awesome Toxic Goblin art!!!

Pathfinder Maps, Starfinder Maps Subscriber

I hear you Mad Doodad, that is what I thought. Jumping up by $80 seemed a tad much for me. Now, if we could get them as an add-on, that I can do.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

I agree about the early bird vs higher pledge level, especially since money has gotten tight in my happy Hermitage.

The blood knight art looks great. Here's hoping that the goal is reached to get the book in full color. Personally, I'd rather see full color with the current amount of content as the next stretch goal but extra content is great too.

Better a latecomer than missing out. I'm in for 20.

Nice. My favorite book for 3.5 now pending for PFRPG.

Sweet.

CJ

This will be a great Pathfinder addition. The 3e version is one of my favorite purchases. Combined with a good animal sourcebook and a monster manual/bestiary, it provides so many interesting possibilities.

Scarab Sages Contributor

In the previous Advanced Bestiary previews, we showed you how to use templates to turn ogres, goblins, and genies into new monsters with new abilities – the Cave Ogre, Toxic Goblin, and Autumn Genie.

But the Advanced Bestiary has a lot of templates, and they do more than give you a few more options. They multiply the value of every monster book you already own, allowing you to create thousands of new monsters along hundreds of themes. You don’t get two or three new giants, you get dozens of options that be turned into hundreds of new giants! You can use as many or as few as you want, tweaking foes to make them more of a challenge if your PCs have gained levels faster than you expected, or creating whole-new threats your plans will find vaguely familiar but still surprisingly different.

So rather than show you three more templates on three more base creatures, we've gone back to the same base monsters – ogre, goblin, and genie – and used new templates to make very different end results! Even this is just the tip of the monstrous iceberg, but it’s a glimpse of the versatility the new Advanced Bestiary will offer every GM!

Check out the Herald of Ragnarok (Ogre with the Herald of the Apocalypse – War template), Darkling (Goblin with the Drowblooded template), and the Umbrated Genie (Djinn with the Demon Possessed – Shadow Demon template) for FREE in today's special preview!

We are down to five days on the Kickstarter, so anything you can do to help us boost the signal is appreciated! Let's knock down some stretch goals!

And another fantastic set of previews showing the versatility of the Advanced Bestiary...

Thanks!

We've also been putting up short blurbs with ideas how you can use the book for greater flexibility. For example:

Arbiter Inevitable + Force Creature template = Flying Force Sphere

Dragon Turtle + War Machine template = Dreadnaught Turtle

Invisible Stalker + Icy Creature template = Cold Stalker

Water elemental + Acid Creature Template = Acid Elemental

Ghost + Dream creature template = Nightmare Haunt

Earth Elemental + Fire-infused Creature template = Lava Hulk

Spirit Naga + Fortune-blessed Creature template = Fate Naga

Ochre Jelly + Mist Creature template = Ochre Cloud

And it seems to be working, since we hit our second stretch goal.

Templates are my weak spot Owen. I threw money at you! Take it! Take it!!

Scarab Sages Contributor

Not only do we tout our second goal smashed, we show off a Walking Nightmare! (In full color! Seriously!)

Scarab Sages Contributor

In case anyone missed it, Chris talked about the project a bit on the Paizo Blog today!

I only just found out about this, so sorry I wasn't able to contribute, but I wanted to say I am stoked for this book. The art previews looks almost unspeakably cool. You've got at least one guaranteed sale when it's out.

Supported the Kickstarter and can't wait until this hardback (and the final PDF) shows up. The finished PDF is supposed to be available to backers mid-July (so soon) with the books next month. It's going to be great.

I asked this in another thread before it was wisely stated that maybe I should bring this here to avoid any derailment there.

Is there any estimate when the surveys with be sent out for that kickstarter? I can only assume it will be shortly before the PDFs get sent out. It's either that or something really went wrong as I never got one.
