I'm tinkering on making a spell to grow hair due to our party's dwarf had his beard cut off due to maggots and suggestion from a dryad.
Hair Growth
School transmutation
Level sorcerer/wizard 2
Casting Time 5 minutes
Components V, S, M (subject's hair)
Range touch
Targets creature touched
Duration concentration
Saving Throw Fortitude negates (harmless); SR yes (harmless)
Description
A tingling sensation occurs in the subject's follicles as it magically starts to grow hair at an accelerating rate. The hair can grow from anywhere on the subject's body where hair naturally grows from such as the top of the head, facial, body, etc.
The rate of which the hair grows are dependent on where the hair is growing from. Hair growing from the top of the head will grow at 2 inches/minute, facial will grow at 1 inch/minute, body at 0.5 inches/minute. Subjects that are bald from natural causes such as age or other natural causes grow hair at half the rate (1 inch/minute for head, etc.)
The caster must concentrate for the hair to grow until the desired length has been achieved.
This was a cantrip back in the day.
Yeah I would assume it was a cantrip at some point. Hell, I think level 2 spell might be much.
Yeah but this is supposed to be a cosmetic thing, not so much for combat, casting time is 5 minutes.

I'd say this sort of thing falls under prestidigitation these days.
Yeah I would use Prestidigitation, but it says nothing about hair other than cleaning or soiling it, not to mention it only lasts an hour. I wanted something more permanent.

As a cantrip I would put some limits on the spell, such as maxing out at 1 inch of growth per day. I would make your spell 1st level with a shorter casting time. If you want it to be more than a standard action then 1 round is plenty. If its 2nd level or higher it should have the potential for a detrimental effect.

I came to this thread thinking this was some sort of aid/synergy for a Witch's Prehensile Hair. But no, this is about growing hair. Which happens naturally. Okay, so this accelerates it.
But seriously, what Sorceror would choose to know this as a 1st (or 2nd level) spell? I could maybe see this help a barber NPC as a cantrip...
Should definitely be a cantrip.
Yeah I only put sorcerer since it's a wizard spell and most wizard spells usually also have sorcerer, I don't see a sorcerer having this spell in their list.

This NEEDS to be 0 level. The effects are cosmetic and aren't beneficial in any mechanical way.
You kids have it waaaay too easy these days!! I say, make him pay for a Regenerate spell.

Any follicle location, that includes facial which is the entire point of making this spell. A beardless dwarf isn't a dwarf you trust.
