GARBLE EAT RING!

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

I'm not sure Winter War can handle the likes of Bruno AND Garble at the same time. I feel the need to warn the locals.

Sczarni 5/5

I'll bring the wand of grease.

They'll need time to gather that many pitchforks and torches.

Torches around a goblin — and Garble in particular — might not be the wisest of choices.

FIRE!

Hmm. Perhaps I should bring my archaeologist to that table. He loves casting blistering invective.

The next step of prep is done. The schedule is now listed on our WARHORN site. If you wish to volunteer to GM, please follow the instructions on the opening page...and THANK YOU!
Remember, if you wish to play, you will need to register with the convention website HERE and obtain event tickets.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Okay, since there has been a bit of confusion regarding registration let me make a few things clear...

  • Our Warhorn website is being used ONLY for GM mustering and visibility of the schedule. We will NOT be signing up players on the Warhorn site.

  • Warhorn is locked such that you cannot signup for individual events yourself. If you wish to volunteer to GM, you need to register as an attendee on the Warhorn site and then email me your desired GM schedule. I will clear you and manually assign the events to you.

  • Some people are having problems with the "email the organizer" link on Warhorn. From what I can determine it is because of the email host Warhorn uses. However, you can hover over the link and right-click. Select the "copy email address" option and paste that into your normal email application. As I am managing the site, you can just send your request to me at pfs.illinios@gmail.com

  • GMs still need to register with the Winter War website and obtain their convention badge. Remember that if you GM two or more slots, you will be reimbursed by the convention for the cost of your badge.

  • If you wish to play an event, you must register with the Winter War website, obtain a convention badge, and purchase event tickets through them.

The Exchange 4/5

Thanks for that post Bob, I was confused about how to get a badge. Knowing to just sign up/buy a badge and we'll get reimbursed makes things easy :D

Sczarni 5/5

is there a discount on the hotel?

It's looking like I'm going to be moving a little earlier than expected and won't be able to make it at all unfortunately :(

AFAIK, yes. Call the hotel directly for reservations, don't call their normal reservation 800-numbers or book online.

Dark Archive 5/5 *

it's the $99/night room rate. more for those named Renee or require the penthouse suite rooms. lol.

Dudes I'm trying to save my PTO for PaizoCon, GaryCon, Gamehole Con, the three Cold Iron cons, not to mention all the other cons I try to help at and a family vacation... but it is my goal for this year to get to at least one of the COWS cons.

Good News!
The events have been approved and posted on the Winter War website. Players should be able to register very soon. Note, there are a few errors, so until the convention staff corrects those, if there is a conflict between what is listed on the website and what is listed on our Warhorn site, use the schedule on the Warhorn site as it is the final version.

To date, we have filled 72% of the GM needs. Thank you very much to those who have graciously volunteered their time. If you still want to GM, its not too late. We have a few tables in each slot still open, including one table of the Diamond City special that needs a GM.
Friday 2-6pm...4 needed
Friday 7-11pm...5
Saturday 9-1pm...2
Saturday 3-7pm...3
Saturday 8-mid...4
Sunday 9-1pm...5
Sunday 2-6pm...6
Remember, if you GM at least two slots, you will be reimbursed for your convention badge.

You might notice that Goblin Attack! is not listed on the Winter War website. That is due to the uniqueness of how it runs and we are still working with the convention to see how they want to list it. So far, we do not have any GMs for those tables. I will be providing all the materials (scenarios, minis, maps, etc.) a GM will need to run it.

Finally, we have a table of players that would like to play Echoes of the Everwar part IV on Sunday afternoon (2-6pm). They played parts I-III, but did not get to finish the series. This table is not listed on any of the websites, but if you would be willing to help these players out, please send me an email.

5/5

I could probably run that. I still need to figure out my schedule :)

Nothing like waiting to the last minute ;-), especially since all but one table of The Confirmation is already filled

Bob, there is a good chance that I will be going and I can run that.

Good News!!!
Registrations are open on the Winter War website. Reserve your seats early before they sell out.

If you are just GM'ing (not playing) and have been approved for at least two slots, you will not need to purchase a convention badge. However, you will need to register a screen name and password, so the staff has an account to assign your free badge to.

If you are GMing AND playing, you will need to purchase a convention badge so you will have access to the events. Go ahead and register for the events you intend to play. At some point (usually before the con, but no guarantee) your badge will be refunded (assuming you will be GMing two or more slots).

If this is at all unclear, or if you have any questions, feel free to email me at pfs.illinois@gmail.com

Preregistration link is broken. :/

Evidently we're supposed to use the Event Registration link under Online Forms. Not exactly intuitive, but it seems to work.

Bob, if we're GMing, should we put those slots in for registration as well, or is that already done with the Warhorn page?

Grand Lodge 5/5

I didnt even think to ask that, lol. I just signed up for the scenario. I guess I can work that out with them if that isnt how it was supposed to be.

Sometimes I think it's my job to ask difficult questions.
Then I realize, nope, I'm just an idiot — it's my job to ask stupid questions. LOL

Grand Lodge 5/5

I emailed Susan about it after I was done getting Kristen registered as well, explaining the situation and telling her which ones we were actually GMing and not playing.

I know I got a refund last year at the convention for the price of the badge or something, so I doubt it will be a big deal to give me a little extra if I overpaid for a few sessions as well.

Sczarni 5/5

I didn't register for my GM slots. I figured that was right because they charge per slot, and we don't pay for the slots we GM.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

DO NOT register for the tables you are scheduled to GM. The convention does not track table GMs for us. If you register, you will occupy a PLAYER seat and thus restrict your table to five players.

Everyone needs to create an account on the website regardless of your status as a player/GM.

If you are playing only, you must purchase a badge, and then you will be able to register for individual events.

If you are GMing only (at least two slots), you DO NOT need to secure a badge. When I submit the master list of GMs, you will receive a complimentary badge.

If you are GMing (at least two slots) AND playing, you will need to purchase a badge in order to gain access to register for the events you plan to play. Once the master GM roster is submitted, your badge fee will be refunded by the convention. Note that the manner/timing of the refund is at the convention staff's discretion and I have no control over it.

Wow, its a bummer the Everwar series filled up already. I guess I'll sign up for the modules on Friday and Sunday. Thanks for offering those, Bob, since they make for a nice opportunity to play something that wouldn't fit in our normal game days.

5/5

If there's enough interest, I could run the Everwar Series. I really enjoy the first 3 parts.

Scarab Sages 5/5

The Everwar series seems to be all the rage this year. Maybe if your lucky Care Baird will show up to run that table!

Grand Lodge 5/5

This has me wondering who managed to get in on those tables? I know Kristen and I did. Who else?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

I do not have any additional available tables, so I cannot just add another table of Echoes. However, if something that is already scheduled does not show any activity, I might be inclined to cancel it and replace it with something else. To maintain our player ratios/targets, ideally the replacement scenario/s would be in the same tier range, but that is not a must. All I can say is to stay tuned...

I will probably reach out to the con for a roster of players. EotE was added to the schedule specifically on request by Chris Rathunde. I hope he was able to get in.

It sounds like a lot of people (Seth, Kirsten, Chris R.) are planning to play the entire "Echoes of the Everwar" series. If I have the good fortune to be your GM, please know that -- in the spirit of good, fast, fun auditing -- I'm going to ask you to fill out a sheet with the following information.

  • Character Name
  • PFS Number
  • Hit Points (breakdown by level)
  • Current Prestige
  • Total Fame
  • Best Attack Bonus (breakdown by bonus and total)
    Or
Combat Maneuver Bonus (breakdown by bonus and total)
    Or
Highest Spell DC (breakdown by bonus and total)
  • Armor Class (including long-term buff spells like mage armor; bonus and total)
  • Two Highest Skill Check Bonuses (breakdown by bonus and total)
  • Two Most Expensive Items
  • List of Feats

Let me know if you have any questions. (And you can bet that I'll have all these calculations available when I'm a player and sit down at your table.)

Grand Lodge 5/5

I got an email from Susan saying as much. At this point, Kristen isnt sure what character she is playing, but I'll make sure she has it ready for whatever character she is playing.

Is 'when we sit down at the table' soon enough for this stuff, or would you like it sooner if possible?

The Exchange 5/5 RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

I'm certainly not expecting anything before we sit down at the table, but if you get the info to me ahead of time, that's so many minutes that we can spend playing the game.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

I will be getting a weekly update from the convention staff regarding the progress of player registrations. Using that information we may consider cancelling undesirable tables and replacing them with "hot" offerings. In this case, I will be contacting the GM prior to any action being taken to see if s/he would like to GM the replacement offering or drop out to do something else.

And yes, we still have a few available GM slots left. If you would like to receive your convention badge for free, check the schedule and send your selections to me by email.

I would like to play Choden level 10 (monk/paladin/champion of Irori). However, I didnt want to comment to a character before I found out what everyone else is playing. I have at least 4 very different party roles characters in the tier range.

10 offensive monk, 10 elemental sorceror, 7/8 TWF Rogue, 8 druid Ape animal companion. And a few more in the 5-6 range.

I will be running a few 7-11s these next couple months, so if others know what they want to play I can make sure my character is of the appropriate level.

So Winter War might actually run two tables of Echoes? That would rock!

Stupid EotT getting in the way of me playing EotE.

It's back on for me! We are going to be shoving everything we own into a pod and letting somebody else ship it across the country. Meaning, I have time to attend!

I'll be emailing Bob shortly once I have scheduling figured out.

If anybody has extra hotel bed/space and is still looking for a roommate, please let me know.

W☺☺t!

BTW, there are still hotel rooms available so if anyone needs one, don't hesitate to call the hotel directly (to get the hotel block/rate).
