Ultimate Campaign: Adolescence and Training - No ninja or samurai???

First off, if there is another thread concerning this, I couldn't find it after 20 minutes of searching. Apologies if needed.

I was just wondering why there are no backgrounds for either the ninja or samurai in Chapter 1 Step 2 - Adolescence and Training?. I know they are variants of the rogue and cavalier respectively, but the gunslinger gets a section and it's a variant fighter.
If there is an errata of sorts with this info please point me toward it. :)

A Gunslinger is not a variant fighter at all. It's its own separate base class. What in the world makes you think that?

Use Rogue for Ninja, use Cavalier for Samurai.

I second what zhayne said

Samurai and ninja are considered alternate classes.

As others have said, the gunslinger is considered a base class, not an alternate class. Samurai, Ninja, and Antipaladin do not receive backgrounds because they are essentially massive Rogue, Cavalier, and Paladin archetypes and should roll on the charts for those classes.

The first version of the gunslinger in the playtest was a variant fighter.

Exactly this. When Ultimate Combat first came out, I hadn't realized they'd moved the gunslinger into its own class category either, because it had been an alternate class in the playtest. No reason to get impatient.
