Does negeative channeling effect plants?

Rules Questions

I had a mental image of a cleric channeling neg energy in a forest and the plant life wilting and dying in the 30' sphere around him.

Cool image, but would that happen?

Yes: in D&D/PF the definition of a "living" creature is one with a constitution score. Plants have constitution scores and are alive, so negative energy channeling works on them.

It does if the GM wants it to. Probably wouldn't happen in most games. Channel energy affects creatures, and most GMs I know don't consider plants 'creatures'. Living objects, certainly, but not creatures.

In PF something is a creature if and only if it has a wisdom score. Some plants in the various monster books do have wisdom scores. Most common, inanimate plants do not.

A creature of the type Plant will be affected. Ordinary plants/trees/etc are objects and not affected.

This.

Plants are generally considered objects.

That makes good sense. Plain old plants are objects and not affected.

Cool, thanks all!

However, you could deal with a rat infestation pretty easily just walk through the area and channel negative energy until you've killed them all, since rats do have stat blocks and defined hp and such, you could make a great exterminator!
